3. Eligibility criteria
Nationality: A candidates must either be:
(i) a Citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before
the 1st January, 1963 with the intention of permanently
setting in India, or
(v) a person of India origin who has migrated from
Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries
of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania,
Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with

 For Army Forces:19 years to 24 years
 For Navy Forces:19 years to 22 years
 For Air Forces: 19 years to 23 years
 OTA, from 19 to 25 years.

5. Educational qualification
 Army Forces Academy: Degree in any discipline
from a govt. Affiliated university or equivalent
 India Navy Academy: Bachelor of Engineering
 Air Force Academy: Degree of a govt. affiliated
University and 12th class with Physics and
Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.

6. Exam pattern
Combined Defence services examination,
conducted by UPSC. Various vacancies are
recruited by UPSC in three armed forces. To get
admission in Indian Army, Navy and Air Force
academy. It consists of three subjects

 General knowledge
 Elementary mathematics
Each section consists of 100 marks with time
