The combination of three circles in graphic logo symbolizes theunification of people in terms of social cohesion. The blue color represents confidence, integrity, and faith as we approach the clients (slum dwellers) with our excellent values.Group DynamicsHope’s dynamic system works according to the method:• discussion on the subject• task division among groups,• handling the sub tasks individually or in subgroups,• gathering the information and the materials from people or the subgroups• combining the information and the materials together,• end up with a common solutionDuring individual work time, everyone has his/her own responsibility to achieve the commonmission. In group works all the gaps and missing points are fixed by each other. When sharingindividual ideas with the rest of the group, some ideas are combined and some of them areomitted.House style design / reportNameOur Social Entrepreneurial Design Group decided called ‘Hope’. We believe that our value will bechanged the slum area and leave the confidence and expectation to dwellers for better slumtomorrow.Font‘Calibri’ font is used in our report as it provides intrinsic readability advantages. Also the fontgives the feeling of strong and robust and yet to remain harmonic with excellent combination ofbetween thin and thick strokes.

  3. 3. Setting XIdentifying setting XThe setting is a slum in a run-down area of a city characterized by substandard housing andsqualor.ActorsBased on the United Nation research, the proportion of slum dwellers deceased from 47 percentto 37 percent due to industrialization and economic development. However, rising of worldpopulation increased the number of slum dwellers to approximately one billion people. A slumhas different characteristics according to different geographic regions, but they are usuallyinhabited by the very poor and socially disadvantaged people. The slum that the project takes place is in Ah me dab ad, India. It consists of 50 householdswithin a 1000 household slum.ElementsThe main elements in the slum are houses, a school, a community area, a water basin, mediacenter, workshops for wood, steel and fabric. This slum is freestanding place with its workshopsmanufacturing the necessary devices, its community area and school providing with socialinteraction and education, its water basin for clean water. Houses are built by the dwellersthemselves. The dwellers are commonly families of four-five people, living close to their relativesand neighbors. The livelihoods in the slum can be divided into two classifications as internal livelihood andexternal livelihood. Most dwellers inside this slum are employed in the wood, steel and fabricworkshops, while others work in outside of slum to earn an income to live.
  4. 4. EventsThey work in various areas such as mill and factory workers, auto mechanics, delivery boys, prostitutes, housekeepers, and vendors for shoe polish, snacks, and etc. Most slums areinsufficient to live by lack of clean water, electricity, sanitation, and other basic facilities. The firstduty of the project is to provide them with the standard facilities but in addition to that, the aimof the project is to improve the personal and social well fare in the slums, so education has thebiggest role. The infrastructure of the slum is organized thinking of the basic need’s distancedand social cohesion within the dwellings. For example the community center stands between thearea of the workshops and the houses, making it an easy place to go after work.
