    I have just done my first PP ... this is good information .... could have used it whilst doing that PP, which was not for teaching purposes. Will have to find a way to sit with someone to learn more if ZI am to be able to use PP for teaching purposes in Africa this summer. Thanks ... your electronic communication is great.     • identify the differences between presenting, persuading and teaching
    • use PowerPoint tools to improve student attention and memory.

    • difference between presenting
    • research, persuading people to do
    • X and teaching with PowerPoint.
  6. Presentation PowerPoint
    • demonstrating that you have done your research appropriately
    • showing your evidence through references, statistics, charts.
    Used for presenting research findings at conferences and rounds by:
  7. Presentation PowerPoint
    • Isn’t useful as a teaching tool because there is:
    • an excess of information
    • a very poor rate of specific retention.
  8. Persuading with PowerPoint
    • Used to change attitudes or behaviour by:
    • calling on emotional factors through images, colours, storytelling, statistics
    • Example: Inconvenient Truth
  9. Persuading with PowerPoint
    • Is useful if your objective is to change attitudes, but isn’t useful for learning specific information because it is:
      • retained as an emotional memory with poor retention of specifics.

    • expecting them to prove their learning.
