1. Preliminary Risk Assessment
Check all equipment for any loose or broken/missing parts so is not to cause accidents and
replace if there are any problems (also to keep other equipment safe) .
Make sure the lighting equipment is switched off whilst not being used and being set up so it
doesn’t get too hot and burn anyone, also warn people so they do not burn themselves,
(which could also lead to them dropping and breaking it).
Check the location for any equipment that could cause accidents if not noticed, pins, staples,
staplers, scissors, paper trimmer, etc.
Make sure the location is free of people so that they do not cause disturbance and higher
the risk of accidents, such as tripping on wire, looking into lights or burning themselves, etc.
Ensure the green screen and tucked properly and all wires are out the way as much as
possible and also warn anyone, (people who may enter room to get something).
Have a mobile phone that has been charged and make sure to know where a teacher, tutor
is so that you can go to them for help in case of an accident.
Ask people if they have a medical need and to bring inhalers and insulin or whatever they
need so it is not to become a risk to them.
Have water on set to avoid dehydration (especially since the lights can get very hot and
dehydrate you), but keep away from all electrical equipment.
