Presented at CAN-FIT-PRO several years ago this workshop is interactive, thought provoking, and something simple….that we often don't do for ourselves deeply enough. Successful people do and they stick to it and learn from it.
A few targeted planning hours will lead you to success like you've never experienced and a calm sense of knowing what you're next step is and how you benefit.

Wellness coaching for corporate leaders and fitness clients has long been established as a means of reaching new heights faster. Now you can self-employ these steps and find what you really want, rather than what you think you should do.
Honestly done work reveals here why you've not yet gotten there and what's in your way. You'll discover resistance to what you say is important, ways to change the plan and approach to wake each day with a vision and excitement about getting there.

    What you can expect out of today and how you can take the information and ideas that you generate today
    (to ask for help; find a COI; get into action; feel good about where you have gotten; balance the scales)

    3. Have to be ready for a change- in order for any coaching toward it to help (e.g. personal training, nutrition consult)

    Accomplishments, milestones, fun, celebrations, benchmarks, challenges, scares, family business, travels, firsts, new goals and adventures, professionally and personally (you are one and the same; no need to separate)

    What did you learn from it? What was the best thing that happened to you in 2007? What were the lessons that you revealed from those actions, and inactions and the feelings that led to them?
    Define the feelings. Reveal what you felt to know what you were thinking. Next look at feelings you didn’t like, don’t want to repeat if you can control them. What might you be thinking or believing or doing or not doing that led you to those feelings? People think, feel, do. We affect our feelings by what we think and what we do. Those individuals who know this and use it wisely, can change their emotions by changing thoughts and actions.

    What rules might you be following unconsciously? What limiting beliefs might you have that hold you back. How will you create a more positive SHIFT in your thinking?
    LEAVING BEHIND: that little voice that says “who are you to be showing your greatness” and instead remember the one that says “WHO ARE YOU TO HIDE IT”
    Similar to an affirmation, or a daily reminder, write your own Life’s Little Instruction:

    Your personal/professional VISION/MISSION/PURPOSE
    V=what you ultimately want to have happen, what you see in your crystal ball (I will..x and x )
    ARFC is the premiere resource for Physical Activity information in Central Iowa as it assists clients, members and fitness/wellness professionals in reaching their goals with a level of customer service that goes beyond expectations.
    M=who you need to be in order to achieve your Vision (more detailed and specific about qualifications, service)
    ARFC has the highest standards for qualifications and credibility among its professionals and puts customer service first in every interaction.
    P=most specific with which to base decisions on for moving forward (actions)
    Every individual of Central Iowa will have a positive experience with personal training that will assist them in getting more out of life and more life out of their years.
  • 12:50-1:00LIST the roles you currently play: Trainer, RD, wife, employee, sister, athlete, parent
    ADD the roles you want to be true: author/writer, speaker, presenter, Ironwoman, mother
    NARROW these down, consolidate to the point that you have only 8
    RATE each of them on a scale from 1-10. How are you doing on them now? SPOKES on a wheel
  • 1:00-1:10 what would it look like next year at this time? What is your idea of being successful!! Be specific
    e.g. seeing my mother more in 2004 was not specific enough- her fall and subsequent hip replacement
    JOT DOWN AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN A MINUTE, measures of success for each of your eight- you can always go back and look at those goals again to add or subtract
    GET IN THE HABIT OF MAKING DECISIONS ONE AFTER THE OTHER. You can always change your mind, but this way you are in the habit of always moving forward.
  • 1:10 -1:15 Choose 10 of those goals that you just put on paper- and circle them.
    Which ones excite you the most, if they came true would make you want to pinch yourself? Would be a moment you’d want to hug everyone of your friends and relatives and bring tears of joy to you?
    QUICK! Not a lot of thinking- just go! Do this with your heart, not your ego or your logical or critical mind!!

    Write down the step by step actions that you need to follow.
    locate magazines, editors, writers guidelines, read/dissect articles, draft a query, send to editors via guidelines
    follow up, check out books and magazines on how to write or create an article, spend an hour writing a day
    Set some smaller goals related to Big goals:
    Big Goal = publish article in national publication/association of peers
    Small Goal = draft a query a month, send to three journals/magazines per month
    Set daily goals related:
    read, study articles, determine outline used for the articles, read/write an hour a day
    OR spend an hour a day on research for clients, thank you notes, organizing birthday, anniversary dates for clients, anniversary (monthly) reminders to previous clients
    OR working on business generating piece: marketing newsletter for clients, new stretch for clients, direct email reminders, postcards to clients, reaching new markets etc. collaborating with a chiropractor or physical therapist or massage therapist, clothier

    Take some control about how you spend your time and energy and creativity and money.
    Invest it all in a direction that you want to go in. It will be work sometimes. It isn’t going to be easy all the time. But things will flow better, feel better, and feel worth the hard work because they are on a more direct path.
