  • Sleep• Good sleep is important for overall good health.• The amount of sleep each person needsvaries, but seven to nine hours of sleep is ideal formost adults.• To feel well rested, your body also needs to gothrough a series of sleep stages. When those sleepstages are interrupted, you may feel especiallytired or have trouble concentrating the next day.
  • Sleep DeprivationSome Veterans don’t realize their trouble sleepingis affecting their day-to-day functioning or thattheir sleep problems are treatable. Symptoms ofsleep deprivation and other sleep problemsinclude:• Having a hard time falling or staying asleep• Having a hard time staying awake during theday• Feeling tired even after getting lots of sleep
  • Implications• Allowing your sleep problems togo unchecked may lead toaccidents or make it harder todeal with stress, solveproblems, or recover fromsickness or injury.• Sleep problems can impact yourlife at home and at work, as wellas your relationships.
