  4. 4. Summary <ul><li>Sasha is broke and owes money to his friends. He forges his his uncle his uncle, the Colonel’s, signature to get money from the bank, but is found out. Ivan tries to help Sasha out, but the Colonel wants him to go to trial. In the end the family decides to pay his debt and lets him go. Sasha then remembers that there is a party that night, he asks Ivan for 100 rubles and Ivan gives it to him. Sasha then concedes that he is a criminal despite his earlier statements on the contrary. </li></ul>
