About Day In Our Bay

  1. 1. Day in Our Bay: Views & Voices from Bristol Bay is a community-based digital storytelling project that gives voice to Bristol Bay Native Corporation shareholders in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska through a video contest, culminating in a collaborative documentary film.<br />
  2. 2. A Day in Our Bay: Voices & Views from Bristol Bay combines digital tools, training and a powerful platform to provide Bristol Bay’s rural populations an innovative way to share their voices, views and values with the world.<br />
  3. 3. On one day - October 15 - BBNC shareholders are invited to participate in a video contest to share images from their lives, their land, their Native Way of Life.<br />
  4. 4. More than 150 Kodak PlaySport cameras were sent to Day In Our Bay participants as a gift for their contributions to this video tapestry of life in the Bristol Bay region.<br />
  5. 5. Our professional video mentors, 11 in total, will be traveling to 13  Bristol Bay communities from Oct. 14-16, to teach video workshops and help participants in each village and town prepare for and execute their shoot. <br />Read their profiles at: http://dayinourbay.org/video-mentors/<br />

Video submitted in the contest will be used by professional editors to create an eight- to ten-minute movie that will be featured during the Anchorage International Film Festival, Dec. 2-11, 2011 in Anchorage. <br />The deadline to submit videos for consideration in the contest is Oct. 20 for raw footage and Oct. 25 for Advanced Category, edited 3-minute short films. Selected winners will be announced at the festival.<br />
