  • 1. Artisan boutique Square Peg Artery & Salvage challenges Philadelphians to “be the change you want to see in the world”—one idea and one block—at a timePHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 24, 2012) – On Thursday March 1, Square Peg Artery& Salvage will launch The ART of Inspiration, a collaborative scheme to energize andunify Philadelphia through positive and creative “inspirational notes.”Conceived by founder Rachel Parker, this fun and inventive art project will start atSquare Peg Artery where the public is invited to share their inspirational thoughts andideas via designated, handcrafted box or “pocket.” Participants are encouraged to takea note, and more importantly, to leave one of their own. This not-so-random act ofinspiration is set to kick off at 11 a.m., right when the shop opens. Each subsequentThursday, Parker, and her inspiration board, will travel to a new location. On the list:LOVE Park, Rittenhouse Square and 30th Street Station. Updates and inspirational noteswill be posted on Facebook and Twitter (#artofinspirationphilly). Physical offerings, such as a nifty pen or tiny notepad, a leaf or blossom, or a photo, are also welcome, aslong as they can fit into the boxes or pockets.AOI draws on Parker’s core mission to build community through artistic interactions.Along with providing a venue for regional artists to connect with consumers, SquarePeg offers diverse workshops for crafters of all levels. The idea for AOI was born out ofParker’s growing awareness of her fellow citizens’ declining, disconnected spirits, anda desire to spread a little joy. Says Parker, “The Art of Inspiration is just the spark weneed to awaken the creative unity of our street, our neighborhood and our city.”Square Peg Artery & Salvage is a handmade artisan boutique promoting over 300 primarily localartisans since 2008.
