  1. 1. What is STAGE TWO?Resume Writing, Coaching, and Career Search Services D. Boyer Consulting Dawn D. Boyer, Ph.D.(ABD)
  2. 2. STAGE TWO Recruiters love digital resumes. Here’s why… Savvy recruiters and headhunters today have to search for candidates and the first place they look is on the Internet. They might have a proprietary ATS resume database their company uses with a storehouse of resumes going back for years.
  3. 3. STAGE TWO (continued) They may have user-licenses for the pay-to- play resume databases such as Monster or CareerBuilder or industry specific resume databases such as Intelligence Careers (for the Defense industry). They may also have access to public resume databases such as Indeed.com. Or – they may simply start with a Google search.
  4. 4. STAGE TWO (continued)What process do they use? It’s called a Boolean Search. The search engines within the databases or the Internet Search Engines use the Boolean search to find key words, key phrases, buzzwords, or terminology as they search for applicants’ resumes within the database or indexes.
  5. 5. STAGE TWO (continued) As a job seeker – the most important thing your resume should do for you is to enable your digital resume to come up in the results queue as close to the top as possible – and preferably within the top 5-10 resume query results. Here’s an example:
  6. 6. STAGE TWO (continued) A ‘mature’ job seeker with 20 years of experience has the phrase ‘systems engineer’ in his resume 4 times A ‘young intern’ out of college has the phrase ‘systems engineer’ 10 times throughout his resume Who do you think will come up at the top of the query results for review by the recruiter?
  7. 7. STAGE TWO (continued)  Recruiters are not going to open 20, 30, or all the resumes submitted to read  Recruiters only have time to read the resumes that are: well-written, with vital data at the top, and that come up in the top 5-10 results in their resume database Boolean search query.
  8. 8. STAGE TWO (continued) The search engines will actually count the number of times those key words, phrases, or buzzwords are mentioned within the digital resume. The ‘engine’ will also count words hidden within the document – but not visible to the recruiter in the text.
  9. 9. STAGE TWO (continued) If the resume is posted as a blog, use ‘tags’ in addition to an increased number of words in the resume; tags helps boost Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of the resume out on the Internet (Google open web searches).
  10. 10. STAGE TWO (continued) Job seekers can’t afford to NOT get their resume encoded, SEO programmed, and enriched for vital key skill words; they need a competitive edge to get that new job. As a resume writer – I have the skills to include ‘ethical Black Hat’ program coding in the Word document resume to increase the numbers of key skill words recruiters are seeking in Boolean Searches in a resume.
  11. 11. STAGE TWO (continued) Personally, I don’t know of any other resume writer who offers this service or knows how to perform the Black Hat programming to the Microsoft Word document resume. Once the resume is rewritten for vital data, it’s vital to get it Search Engine Optimized for Key Skill Words for your online job application and career search.
  12. 12. STAGE TWO (continued) Additionally – in Stage II – the job seeker will receive a listing of 100s of companies’ recruiting websites (direct URL links). The applicant can review the list for specific interest in a particular company OR Simply start uploading their newly re-written resume to ‘farm’ their capabilities to recruiters in those companies.
  13. 13. STAGE TWO (continued)This enables you, the job seeker, to get a leg up on the competition – ‘other job seekers’ who want that job for which you are the best-qualified candidate.
  14. 14. STAGE TWO Now…LETS GO GET YOU THAT NEW CAREER JOB!
  15. 15. STAGE TWO (continued) You only pay for each Stage as you can afford.
