• A view of the new calendar and contacts functions in Notes 8.
• So here is a summary of our current and planned product roadmap. As you can see we have plans not only for a great Notes and Domino 8.0 maintenance and features stream, but also beyond that. The future roadmap clear and coherent and delivers real value to your business
• Powerful enhancements to Notes Client Ease of use Integration across your collaborative environment Enhanced mobility solutions Out-of-the box mobility with Lotus Notes Traveler Secure Access to information while mobile with Lotus Mobile Connect New iNotes/Domino Web Access Lite Mode Powered by the Domino 8.0.1 Server Document compression 64 Bit Native Domino FIPS 140-2 standard Notes email encryption New OS platform version support
• Basic wireless mobile replication solution for Lotus Domino email/PIM data Automatic, real-time replication of email (including attachments), calendar, contacts, personal journal and To Do Access Domino email on handheld mobile devices Communicates over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection offering 128 bit encryption --Advanced encryption (beyond 128 bit) could be added by use of an additional mobile VPN solution (e.g. IBM Lotus Mobile Connect) Runs directly in the Domino server as a server task Integrates with Domino administration and policies Over the air device installation Support for Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 and 6 (Professional and Smartphone) Licensed as part of Domino 8.0.1 – no additional purchase required. WECM (formerly Mobile Connect) isoptional (embedded in Traveler 8.5). This is why: Challenge: Sensitive information across networks Security-rich and seamless access to business information Wide variety of networks (wireless, wire line, transient) High cost of moving data Solution: VPN with seamless roaming Strong data encryption / Authentication Security-rich wireless / wire line roaming over 35+ networks Reduces data transmission costs over wireless networks Proven ROI / ROI calculator Open Standards RSA, AES, DES FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria EAL3+ Provides access to critical applications anytime/anywhere in a security-rich manner
• Call out dependency for IBM Lotus Notes Traveler on Domino 8.0.1
• Make the point that Traveler is part of a complete mobile portfolio for Lotus Notes users…teaming with the industry’s leading players!
• Notes calendar enhancements Simplify Notes Identity management and authentication Eliminate need for Lotus Notes password for authentication Simplify Notes ID management Option to replace Domino Directory with alternative LDAP directories like Active Directory Reduce storage costs Reduce database size via new compression algorithms – now coming in 8.0.1! Optimize and reduce attachment storage Further reduce I/O bandwidth (relative to 8.0 improvements) Modernize Domino application development Deliver major improvements in Domino web application server and development tools Domino Designer in Eclipse
• iCal Subscriptions : Your calendar in Lotus Notes is about more than meeting schedules. It's about managing your time. The demands on your time come from a myriad of sources. Some of these sources may not be work related, but they affect your ability to commit your time at work. Notes 8.5 allows you to see how these other sources affect you by providing the ability to subscribe to iCalendars. Now, you can overlay schedules from sources such as projects, professional groups and personal calendars and get an accurate measure of your commitmentsand best manage your time.
• Group Calendar - 1 day view: Scheduling a meeting with a group of people is more than just finding free time. Often, it involves moving things around and prioritizing commitments. The Group Calendar in Notes 8.5 will give you a clear idea of not only busy time, but what the time commitments are, reducing all those emails that start something like this: "We're trying to schedule a team meeting for Monday and your calendar says that you are booked at 10, is that something that you can move?". This is the one day view. We also have 2 day, week, and month views for group calendars. Check it out for yourself at the UX lab.
• Windows Authentication: -User signs on in Windows -Windows generates encrypted key to unlock Notes ID -No Notes password is required to start Notes -No passwords to sync Central Notes ID Vault Help desk OR Self service password change application
• Option to replace Domino Directory with alternative LDAP directories Optional deployment choice Domino Directory continues to be supported Store Domino person attributes in LDAP Other information will be stored in a Domino Configuration DB Tools will be provided to migrate Domino person attributes into LDAP Allows for phased migration to new directory New Domino directory APIs for applications integration Active Directory will be first implementation planned for Domino Next Future: support additional LDAP directories
• Provides efficient, file-system storage of large objects – initially attachments Removes redundant storage of stored objects using efficient content comparison. Result: Databases greatly reduced in size and more efficient to perform maintenance on Disk space savings depending on level of redundancy I/O bandwidth savings Benefits: Simple – Attachments are placed in DAOS based on database setting and size criteria rather than due to knowledge of sharing Reduces disk space – depending on degree of content overlap Improves mail performance Attachments are written once per server additional users just get a copy of the reference Improves compact performance Avoids need to move large objects (attachments) during compaction process – only small reference is moved. Enables large reduction in incremental backup costs DAOS repository isolates large blocks of data into separate, unchanging files. Logically replaces SCOS feature
• Better Looking Domino Web Applications Improvements for existing Domino Web applications Domino Designer additions to better control HTML generation (e.g., CSS, Dojo Widgets) Integrate Lotus Component Designer technology Integrate into Domino Designer and Domino Web Server Web Page and Custom Control design elements Ability to completely control look and feel of Web Pages Ability to use mashup technologies
• Spam Control and Content Inspection Antivirus and Antispam – before your Domino servers or Notes users Multi-level message analysis on every email message Sophisticated and Granular ruled-based policy management Multiple built-in spam analysis modules Fully customizable content analysis modules  COMPLIANCE! Pre-emptive Protection Industry-leading Intrusion Prevention System Signature and Behavioral Antivirus Specialized Content Inspection for Phishing and Spyware

8. 9. Seems Like a Good Idea.. The plug-in approach is also compelling from an IT standpoint. With relative ease, developers should be able to create plug-ins (with Lotus Domino Designer 8 or Eclipse-based tools) that mashup data from in-house systems (such as CRM and HR systems) and outside Web services. There’s also a Composite Application Editor to wire components together by dragging and dropping them into a compound application, which should speed development.
