TENNESSEE ATTORNEY GENERAL MICROSOFT ACCESS AND SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR The Tennessee Attorney General’s Office has an immediate opportunity for a Microsoft SQL and Access Database Administrator. The DBA will provide operational and developmental support for all production and non-production databases. Job Summary: Operational support includes performing backup and recovery on database management systems, configuring database parameters, monitoring and maintaining system capacity, data security, systems documentation and systems management tools. Developmental support includes maintaining and developing customized reporting applications via Microsoft Access forms and reports using data from native access tables and linked SQL tables. Job Description Support and enhance Microsoft Access applications programmed with extensive Visual Basic customizations. Most of these applications use attached SQL Server tables. Provide support and maintenance for several Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting a variety of application platforms including MOSS, Access, 3rd party applications such as Lawbase, and a test/development environment on VM Ware. Ensure daily and nightly SQL Server jobs run accurately and to completion. Monitor transaction activity, system utilization or load levels. Prepare and/or review status, progress and performance reports. Responsible for overall administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery. Perform SQL database upgrades as needed for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades. Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL and Access development. Utilize data modeling knowledge to provide designs that will meet performance and scalability requirements. Share responsibility for data integrity with the applications development staff. This will include a deep understanding of Relational Database Management principles to logically design normalized relational data models and table structures. Maintain effective working relationships with internal customers and external contacts.

Preferred Experience: Experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 using Transact-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, SQL Agent jobs, SQL Reporting Services, and backup/recovery of data, database mail, Active Directory and SQL security concepts. Microsoft Access application development and reporting. Visual Basic, VBA, VB Scripting. Familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel), Windows Operating Systems, Windows Server Applications (IIS, Terminal Services, Active Directory), and miscellaneous support tools (ODBC, WinZip, FTP, LexisNexis HotDocs). Solid understanding of RDBMS principles and practices in a complex client/server, distributed computing environment. Solid understanding of SDLC for building applications from conception through completion. Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to work under minimal supervision. Education and Certification: Bachelor Degree desired; MCDBA, MCSE certification a plus. Salary: Salary based on education, ability and experience.
