3. What Are Dental Veneers?
Designed to improve the appearance of damaged or
misshapen teeth, dental veneers can have a
significant impact on a patient's self-esteem. These
thin porcelain constructions, when placed over the
surface of a tooth, mimic the look of natural tooth
enamel. Dentists often use veneers to care for
patients whose teeth have been discolored by
drugs, flouride, or root canal treatment. Veneers
also offer the promise of a more attractive smile to
those with worn, chipped, irregularly shaped, or
poorly aligned teeth.
4. What Are Dental Veneers?
To create a veneer, a dentist will first remove a
small layer of enamel from the tooth. He or she will
then make a mold of the tooth, which a dental
laboratory will then use to create the veneer itself.
The patient will then return to the dentist, who
permanently cements the veneer to the tooth.
