Childhood  Rafael was born in Manacor( Balearic islands) on third of June 1986  His uncle Miguel Nadal is a professional footballer, who played for FC Barcelona and Spanish national team  His other uncle, Toni Nadal, a professional tennis player, introduced boy to tennis when Rafa was 3  When Rafael was just 8 he won a regional tennis championship for children under 12  At that time Nadal was an extremely promising footballer as well
  4. 4.  Rafael is ambidextrous. He plays tennis with the left hand and writes with right  His uncle Toni convinced Rafa to play with left- hand as it is a natural advantage  At the age of 12 won a lot of titles in his age group in Spain and Europe and after that decided to focus on tennis and stop his football trainings  Refused to move to Barcelona and America as he wanted to prove that it is possible to become a pro in his home town  Became professional at the age of 15  In 2003 was recognized as Newcomer of the year award by Association of Tennis Professionals

Why he is one and only?  There are four major tournaments in tennis  They are: Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open  They offer the most ranking points and prize money  The biggest possible achievements in tennis is to win all these tournaments in one year. It called- Grand Slam Rafael Nadal- a tennis genius from Spain

Captured four straight Roland Garros singles titles from 2005 to 2008 and another four straight titles from 2010 to 2013, joining Björn Borg in 2008 as the only other man to have won four consecutive singles titles there In 2013, by winning his eight Roland Garros title, Nadal became the only player to win eight major titles at a grand slam event. Nadal is only the third male player in the to have won the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year, and the first since Borg in 1980. In 2009, Nadal became the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open, and the first player to simultaneously hold Grand Slams on clay, grass and hard court Nadal

He is the 7th male player in history to achieve this Has accomplished the Career Golden Slam (Grand Slam+ Olympic Gold)and is the 2nd male player in history to attain this after Andre Agassi He is an Olympic champion( Beijing 2008) Owns the longest single- surface winning streak in the open era, having won 81 consecutive matches on clay from April 2005 to May 200 Nadal
