BOYLE COUNTY INDUSTRIAL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS
AMERICAN COALITION FOR CLEAN COAL ELECTRICITY
Danville, Kentucky—In the midst of the global attention that Centre College and Danville,
Kentucky, are receiving as hosts of the 2012 Vice Presidential Debate, the Boyle County Industrial
Foundation continues to be focused on one issue that is sure to be prominent in Thursday night’s
contest: JOBS.
“Coal-fired generation of electricity is one of Kentucky’s key competitive advantages for supplying
low-cost electricity to our businesses and industries,” commented Jody A. Lassiter, President/CEO
of the Boyle County Industrial Foundation. “Kentucky has the fourth lowest industrial electricity
rates in the country, and the lowest among states east of the Mississippi River. The further
restriction or loss of coal-fired electricity generation would be a serious setback to our state and local
business recruitment efforts at a time when jobs are sorely needed for people out of work. Clean
coal must be one component of America’s diverse energy strategies. We support the effort to
educate the public about the critical economic impact of coal by the American Coalition for Clean
Coal Electricity (ACCCE) on the national front and FACES of Coal at the state level.”
About the Boyle County Industrial Foundation: A Partner in the Danville/Boyle County Economic
Development Partnership (EDP), the Boyle County Industrial Foundation is the lead Partner within the EDP for
the primary mission of business development. In its role, the BCIF (1) manages and improves existing real estate
assets for sale or lease for industrial and/or commercial development; (2) monitors, assesses, and responds to
opportunities for acquisition of additional land and/or buildings to maintain a competitive stock of real estate assets
for industrial and/or commercial prospects; and (3) facilitates and supports the activities of the Danville/Boyle County
Industrial Council, a plant manager advisory group.
