  2. Slide 2: What is a run-on? A run-on sentence is when you put  two independent clauses together without separating them with punctuation or conjunctions. It is important to avoid a run-on  sentence is so that the reader can understand the text clearly and not lose interest.

  5. Slide 5: What is a fragment? A sentence fragment is an incomplete  sentence that does not contain a subject or verb. It is important to avoid sentence  fragments so that the reader knows what the subject is and what the subject is doing.
