How to add MUFA to your diet!! <ul><li>These foods contain MUFA </li></ul><ul><li>Avocado </li></ul><ul><li>Canola oil </li></ul><ul><li>Olive oil </li></ul><ul><li>Peanut Oil </li></ul><ul><li>Peanut Butter </li></ul><ul><li>Nuts . . . </li></ul><ul><li>Almonds </li></ul><ul><li>Cashews </li></ul><ul><li>Pecans </li></ul><ul><li>Peanuts </li></ul><ul><li>Sesame seeds </li></ul>

Fatty Acids are Essential!! <ul><li>Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids are considered ESSENTIAL in a healthy diet!! </li></ul><ul><li>MUFA is that fat that is good for you </li></ul><ul><li>Your body can’t make MUFA it must be obtained by the food you eat!! </li></ul><ul><li>They stop the bad fats that you eat from accumulating </li></ul>

The results of eating MUFA <ul><li>It can help if you have diabetes </li></ul><ul><li>MUFA helps you create a stronger and healthier heart </li></ul><ul><li>Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids play a curtail role in brain function </li></ul><ul><li>Also they help with normal growth and development </li></ul>

A healthy dinner <ul><li>A healthy dinner should include a rainbow of colors!! </li></ul><ul><li>To start a piece of whole grain bread </li></ul><ul><li>1 serving of chicken </li></ul><ul><li>Roasted carrots and beans as a vegetable </li></ul><ul><li>Cut up strawberries with whipped cream for dessert! </li></ul>
  7. 7. The food pyramid <ul><li>When looking at the Food Pyramid you can see that you need less Oils or Fats and more Grains or Vegetables </li></ul><ul><li>Also that exercise is VERY important!! Just as much as the foods you eat! </li></ul>

Seven healthy Snacks <ul><li>Peanuts – help you heart be healthy </li></ul><ul><li>Bananas – Good source of Vitamin C and B6 </li></ul><ul><li>Dried fruit – Iron , potassium and Vitamin A </li></ul><ul><li>Grapes – Help prevent narrowing and hardening of arteries </li></ul><ul><li>Mandarin - Heart healthy (can lower risks of heart disease) </li></ul><ul><li>Popcorn – Fiber (lowers risk of some cancers) </li></ul><ul><li>Apples – Have potassium </li></ul>
