INTRODUCTION <ul><li>Bharti Foundation </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Set up to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Satya Bharti School Program </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Flagship program of Bharti Foundation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Present Operational Status </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Schools Operational:250 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu & West Bengal </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Number of Students Enrolled: Over 36,000 </li></ul></ul>

About the Community <ul><li>Geographical Location: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Meghanwas village is situated near 3 K.M. from district Mahendergarh. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Sandy soil. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Water Level- 450 ft. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Socio- Economic Background: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Major casts are : Ahir, Chamar, Jogi, Bawariya, etc. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dominating castes : Ahir </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Main source of earning is agriculture, animal husbandry, labor, Service in army etc. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Population : 1502, Literacy Rate: 45% </li></ul></ul>
  4. 4. We ‘Felt’: We observe that there are 4 tube well in the village but people can not get sufficient water for use. Some people waste it. Some people have three tap in house but some have to wait for water .As a result water level is 450 ft. It is wasted rapidly. People are not aware about this.
  5. 5. We ‘Imagined’ All the team decided to aware the community about the proper use of water and to save water. All people will get sufficient water for daily use. We will save water for coming generation. Every member of community will understand his responsibility towards water saving.
  6. 6. After over all discussion in school, we met the sarpanch and shared our concern. He was very impressed with us and told that he was planning for the same campaign for a long time. He called for a meeting and shared this program to panchyat members and assured to help at every step to make the campaign success . Going out:
  7. 7. We ‘Did’ A role pay was organized in the chaupal to tell the reuse of water . Jal hai to Kal hai
  8. 8. Impact on Community: <ul><li>Community members realized t their responsibilities or accountability to save water. Peoples stop to waste water. </li></ul><ul><li>Each of them motivate to each other. </li></ul><ul><li>Now every member can get adequate water supply for use. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Impact on “Us” Students felt leadership quality . Students start initiating on “awareness of People.” Community members praised the students.
  10. 10. The Road Ahead…..(in the next 3 months) <ul><li>Regular follow up for the program. </li></ul><ul><li>Poster displaying at common places of the village. </li></ul><ul><li>Duties were assigned to some volunteers to keep watch the people who waste water and counsel them to save water. </li></ul>
