    for DFC 2011
    by
    Anando’s children
  • 2. What would you think
if I sang out of tune ?
    Would you stand up
and walk out on me ?
from With A Little Help From My Friends by the Beatles
  • 3. FEEL
HanshiKhushi is an organisation which works with specially abled children. Their centre is in the same locality as our organisation, Anando.
We had heard that like us ,the HanshiKhushi students love doing art and craft. But they are not able to do so often enough because there are not enough volunteers to help.
  • 4. WE CAN HELP!
    SUROJIT
    That was our first
thought when we heard about HanshiKhushi’s dilemma.
All of us are artistic and good with our hands. We love messing around with paints and stuff!
    RATUL
    PINKY
So why not put our talents to good use?
    DIPTI
    PIYALI
    IMAGINE
  • 5. We went to meet Urna Bose , the principal of HanshiKhushi. From her we learnt more about the school and the students who attend it.
Mrs. Bose was delighted with our offer and suggested that we could help her students create craft items that could be sold at their annual sale before the DurgaPuja vacation
    DO
  • 6. We soon got to work. We decided to come in twice a week for an hour before we ourselves went to school.
At first we were a bit apprehensive. The children were so different from us….how would we handle them??
  • 7. But then we realised that the HanshiKhushi children did not need “handling” at all!
Sure, they needed some help from us but they were enjoying the activities as much as we were !
    And…..
  • 8. …it was so much more fun than we had imagined!
The HK students were teenagers like us…..
…and we could laugh and joke with them like we do with our other friends.
    We enjoyed being teachers too!
  • 9. Deepti and Piyali speak on their
    first impressions……
  • 10. Every week at our Sunday activity sessions with Anando, we touched up and completed the things we had made with
    the HK students earlier
  • 11. With all our other friends joining in, we also made a set of jute dolls for the sale
  • 12. Time for a break!
  • 13. What we made……
    PEN STANDS
    WRAPPING PAPER
    JUTE KEYRINGS
    PICTURE FRAMES
  • 14. It was finally time to give all the finished products to HanshiKhushi
  • 15. A proud moment…..
    …..with our new friends
  • 16. What Prasenjit, a student of HanshiKhushi has to say…..
  • 17. At the Puja Sale
Our items were a sell out!
  • 18. Pinky, Deepti and Piyali on future plans and overall experience
  • 19. HanshiKhushi principal, Urna Bose shares her views
  • 20. Piyali has the last word!
  • 21. Yes, our new friends are different
but we intend to sing in tune with them
    from now on!
