2. • Initiative taken for a complete ban on using plastic bags
from the village and school, by the teachers and students of
the school.
• Participation of the school students to encourage their
parents and community about hazards of using plastic and
health problems that could be faced due to plastic use.
3. Why We Started the Campaign?
• It was observed that use of polythene
bags is increasing day by day.
• Villagers were not aware of ill effects of
the use of plastic bags.
• Drains on the road side in the village
were often seen blocked due to polythene
bags
• Plastic waste was openly lying and
burning it was the only option.
• Villagers preferred Plastic bags instead of
Paper bags & Cloth bags.
4. How We Started the Campaign?
• We surveyed the village and
talked to the community
about how much they are
dependent on plastic.
• Villagers were made aware
about ban on using plastic by
lectures and role plays.
• Teachers talked to the
community about the ill
effects of using plastic and
things made of it.
5. Spreading Awareness
• Students made bags of newspapers
and cloths .
• Stress was given on using cloth bags
and jute bags instead of plastic.
• Students made placards against the
use of plastic.
• Class 6th and 7th students participated
in rally enthusiastically and raised
slogans in English as well Punjabi.
• Students made large number of
paper bags and gave them to
community people
6. Spreading Awareness
• People didn’t know that if
their cattle eat these plastic
bags the animals can die.
• On burning plastic many
harmful gases comes out
which can lead to fatal
diseases.
• Its use should completely
stopped and things of plastic
should be exchanged with
paper, jute or other eco-
friendly material
7. Results of Campaign
• Students made aware of not
using polythene bags to
such an extent that they
stopped bringing their
books in plastic bags.
• School declared "no plastic
zone" area.
• Shopkeepers started using
paper bags instead of
polythene for light weight
things
