Often we hear our teachers complaining aboutfading reading habits among students. Studentsthese days have no love for books at all. Theywould rather watch TV, play video games or justgossip in their free time.

OUR ACTION PLAN…•Allocating 50 minutes of “DEAR”(Drop Everything And Read) periodeveryday.•Collecting books from theneighborhood.•Setting up class libraries.•Motivating students to read bymaking each student own a book.• Inviting students to present bookreviews.
DISCUSSING THE PROJECT WITH PRINCIPALWe discussed the project with our Principaland urged him to squeeze out 50 minutes forour reading session everyday .
FITTING ‘DEAR’ PERIOD IN TIMETABLEWe suggested to take out 5 minutesfrom each period including the lunchperiod, to make a 50 minute „DEAR‟period
BOOK DONATION CAMPAIGN PREPARING FOR THE CAMPAIGN
OUTCOME…• There is a marked differenceamong students in theirkeenness to read books.• All the students carry astorybook in their bags now!• “DEAR” period becomes apermanent feature in ourschool time table.
