PlayDate Foundation was created because of this girl, Kianna Brown. She is my 11 year old niece and has down syndrome. I started this organization because as she has gotten older, I have noticed a decline in the amount of friends that she has. My goal for PlayDate is to make sure that no kid has to be without a strong social network.
The friend finder service is currently in development. Since we want the service to be as secure as possible, we are spending extra time handling the legal logistics for the service. We expect it to be up and running by the end of the month.
We recognize that there are a lot of resources currently in place and some that are in development. If we feel that the need is adequately being met, then we will just work to make sure that it is as successful as possible. If we feel the need is not being met, then we will create a centralized online network to connect non-profits (including those that do not deal with special needs children).
If anyone would like to help out or co-host an events, please feel free to contact me
This is our next event, we are going to change the date due to the fact that it overlaps with another large event. It will either be on the 16th or 23rd . We are also looking for the children models, so if you know of anyone who might be interested please contact me.
We are going to try to attach on to an event that is already in the works. We are currently looking for an organization that is currently planning a fall festival.
Will most likely take place at World Bowl on International Drive
We decided to host it at either the Science Center, Medieval Times or Sea World
This event will strictly be a fundraiser, we are not planning on our families to participate. The will be a very upscale event for supporters of PlayDate to come out to.
A brief event for kids to come out and make a present for their parents.
This will be the start of hosting 2 events a month (one for the family and one just for the parents). We are going to work with Buddy Break to provide care for the children during the event.
There are two ways we can approach this event. The first is to utilize an organization like Young Chefs and have the families meet there to cook. The second is to use a location with a large kitchen and bring some volunteer chefs to work with the families.
This is going to be one of our signature events for the older kids.
These events wouldn’t take place until 2011. Ideally, we would like to partner with a convention that is already in place.
Same as previous slides
These are the benchmarks if we create a network ourselves, which we will only do if we feel the need is not being met.
