  3. 3. Organelles <ul><li>All cells have organelles with special jobs that help them survive </li></ul><ul><li>What are these organelles? </li></ul>
  4. 4. Daily Four Organelles <ul><li>Today we’re going to look at 4 organelles in detail: </li></ul><ul><li>Nucleus </li></ul><ul><li>Lysosome </li></ul><ul><li>Cytoplasm </li></ul><ul><li>Mitochondria </li></ul>

Nucleus <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>The Boss </li></ul><ul><li>CONTROLS ALL THINGS IN THE CELL!!! </li></ul>I got a tight membrane of lipids & proteins and they keep my DNA contained Plus I’m controlling everything that goes on In the cell, nucleus is my name I’m the smallest boss that you’ve seen thus far (3x) Cause its just another day in the life of a small time boss
  6. 6. Cytoplasm <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>A fluid that occupies the space around the organelles. The cytoplasm protects cell organelles from damage </li></ul><ul><li>The cytoplasm is a gooey fluid </li></ul><ul><li>just like jelly </li></ul><ul><li>It protects all the cell parts </li></ul><ul><li>that are called organellies </li></ul>

Mitochondria <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>Produces Energy For the Cell from oxygen and glucose(sugar) </li></ul><ul><li>The mitochondria makes the energy </li></ul><ul><li>that is known as ATP </li></ul><ul><li>All it needs oxygen </li></ul><ul><li>and G-L-U-C-O-S-E </li></ul><ul><li>then yule it cranks that ATP </li></ul><ul><li>yule it cranks that ATP (3x) </li></ul>
  8. 8. Lysosomes <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>The Pac-Man </li></ul><ul><li>Eats and Digests cell waste </li></ul><ul><li>“ I see that waste floatin’ round my </li></ul><ul><li>cell.. GIMME THAT </li></ul><ul><li>I can’t wait to digest all that </li></ul><ul><li>waste..GIMME THAT </li></ul><ul><li>When I see organelles that don’t work </li></ul><ul><li>I prepare to eat </li></ul><ul><li>And say GIMME GIMME GIMME” </li></ul>

Ribosomes <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>The Protein-Makers </li></ul><ul><li>Makes proteins in the cell </li></ul><ul><li>“ Everyday in my cell I be making my proteins, I be making my proteins, I be making my proteins.” </li></ul><ul><li>“ Everyday in my cell I be making my proteins, that affects what goes on in the cell </li></ul>
  12. 12. Endoplasmic Reticulum <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>The Transporter </li></ul><ul><li>Makes materials for cell, and transports these materials around the cell through it’s series of tunnels. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Endoplasmic Reticulum <ul><li>Endoplasmic Reticulum is my name and I move things this way that way this ways that. I make and transport materials cells. They would not survive if it weren’t for me moving things this ways that way this way that way </li></ul>

Golgi Complex <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>The Packer </li></ul><ul><li>Packs and ships materials for the cell </li></ul><ul><li>The golgi complex packs </li></ul><ul><li>materials and ships them </li></ul><ul><li>out !!! </li></ul><ul><li>It makes it possible by </li></ul><ul><li>wrapping a membrane </li></ul><ul><li>around it </li></ul><ul><li>Then cell membranes </li></ul><ul><li>allow materials to exit </li></ul>

Cell Membrane <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>Controls what comes in an out of the cell </li></ul><ul><li>They let things in </li></ul><ul><li>They let things out </li></ul><ul><li>They let things in </li></ul><ul><li>They let things out </li></ul><ul><li>It controls what comes in </li></ul><ul><li>And controls what goes out </li></ul><ul><li>They cover up the cell </li></ul><ul><li>That’s what they’re all about </li></ul><ul><li>yeah </li></ul>

Our Body Cells </li></ul><ul><li>Have all of the 9 basic cell organelles </li></ul><ul><li>Plant Cells </li></ul><ul><li>Ex. Leaf Cells </li></ul><ul><li>Have 3 more organelles: </li></ul><ul><li>Chloroplasts </li></ul><ul><li>Cell Wall </li></ul><ul><li>Large Vacuole </li></ul>

  18. 18. Plant Cell Organelles <ul><li>Today we will be looking at 3 more cell organelles and their functions. These organelles are found in plant cells. </li></ul><ul><li>Chloroplasts </li></ul><ul><li>Cell Wall </li></ul><ul><li>Large Vacuole </li></ul>
  19. 19. Vacuole <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>Vacuoles store water and other substances in the plant cell. </li></ul><ul><li>V-A-C-U-O-L-E they store the materials that the cells need (repeat) </li></ul>

Chloroplasts <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>Chloroplasts make food using the energy of sunlight </li></ul><ul><li>Just give me some light </li></ul><ul><li>and H 2 0 ohh with CO 2 </li></ul><ul><li>then I’ll make glucose </li></ul><ul><li>and the oxygen </li></ul><ul><li>you breath in through your nose </li></ul><ul><li>That’s how photosynthesis flows </li></ul>

Cell Wall <ul><li>Function/Role </li></ul><ul><li>The cell wall provides strength and support to the cell membrane </li></ul><ul><li>All plant cells have a tough cell wall </li></ul><ul><li>They give the cell membranes </li></ul><ul><li>support </li></ul><ul><li>Cells are weaker in animals </li></ul><ul><li>Because plant cells the have a strong cell wall </li></ul>
