The children's book sections in most university libraries (or in many public and school libraries, for that matter), are not organized by genre (other than perhaps fiction and nonfiction). There's not one place where we keep all the contemporary realistic fiction, historical fiction, etc. So, how do you find books by genre or by certain subject areas for your assignments?

Fortunately, we use the online book collection tool LibraryThing to group books into genre collections and also tag them by genre, subject areas, and so much more. Go to http://www.librarything.com/catalog/rdg301library and follow the steps in this presentation.

Please note that the only books included in our LibraryThing account are books in the Curriculum Collection at the Dick Smith Library at the Stephenville Tarleton State University campus. You may be able to find these same books in other libraries as well. You may also find other books for your assignments not listed here. Ask your librarian for help!
