  • 3. The main goal in treating gout is to provide early relief fromsevere joint pain and prevent further attacks of gout.
  • 4. The treatment of gout can be donethrough prescription, natural, herbal and alternative medicinal products.
  • 5. There are two groups of prescribed medicine that aim totreat gout by addressing pain and prevent its recurrence over time
  • 6. The effectiveness of individualizedtreatments depend largely on the clients overall health condition.
  • 7. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are the drug of choice for acute goutattacks as they provide quick relief andreduce swelling in a short span of time.
  • 8. When pain is brought under control,the next goal is prevent future attacks.
  • 9. Medicines such as allopurinol keeplevels of uric acid at normal values. This helps inhibit the formation of urate crystals.
  • 10. Once uric acid levels are kept normal then future occurrences of gout will be avoided.
  • 11. A patient taking reliever medication is often advised to take preventer medication after the attack toreduce uric acid levels in the blood.
  • 12. Many people are turning to natural treatment options. Prescription medicine can have adverse effects which people are keen to avoid.
