  • I liked how your slide show lays out the pop icons who have become green activists, however some of the information I think is a bit misleading, especially that about hybrid cars. You did a really good job though, nice slideshow.

  2. 2. The Environment <ul><li>There are many environmental problems in this day and age that have become worldwide issues. Air and water pollution, large amounts of waste, global warming, smog, overpopulation, etc. These are just a few of the issues occurring throughout the world. Fortunately there are things that can be done to help. </li></ul><ul><li>Celebrities are a group of people in the world who are able to influence the public with just a small gesture. They have the ability to make a large impact and help get others to contribute. They can prove that it doesn’t matter the size of the gesture, just that something is being done. If everyone contributes then there can be a better result over time. </li></ul>

Julia Louis-Dreyfus <ul><li>Before she became known as Elaine on Seinfeld, she and her husband were dedicated environmentalists </li></ul><ul><li>Over the past 10 years, she has been involved with several different environmental organizations </li></ul><ul><li>Her husband Brad, is working to get the energy-guzzling Hollywood studios to change the way they are operating. </li></ul><ul><li>They are also working on transforming their home into a green design with energy efficiency mechanisms. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The house includes net-metered rooftop solar panels, a natural ventilation system, and insulation made of recycled newspaper. </li></ul></ul>

Cars <ul><li>A survey was done in 2001 and 2002 of 60, 000 people in the united states by the transportation department. </li></ul><ul><li>91% of the people who commute use their own cars or trucks. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>57% are cars or station wagons </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>21% are vans or sport utility vehicles </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>19% are light trucks </li></ul></ul><ul><li>8% of the people don’t own a car. </li></ul><ul><li>The survey also showed that the typical American family had more vehicles in the garage than licensed drivers in the house. </li></ul><ul><li>107 million U.S. households </li></ul><ul><ul><li>an average of 1.9 cars, trucks or sport utility vehicles </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>1.8 drivers, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported </li></ul></ul><ul><li>That means there are 204 million vehicles and 191 million drivers. </li></ul><ul><li>When this survey was conducted in 1995, those numbers were equal. </li></ul>
