Jacob Riis• Born May 3, 1849; Died May 26, 1914• He immigrated from Denmark to the U.S.• He worked as Journalist and Photographer in his early career.• He was specialist in Muckraking and was one of the first photographers to use a flash.• He later became subject to poverty and worked as a police reporter.
Robert M. La Follette• Born June 14, 1855; Died June 18, 1925• Nicknamed “Fighting Bob” La Follette.• He was a U.S. Congressman and a Governor of Wisconsin.• He also served as a Senator and ran for President.• He(tying with Henry Clay) was considered the greatest congressman of U.S. History(up to1982).
Alice Paul• Born January 11, 1885; Died July 9, 1977• She was a suffragist and activist in America.• She, along with other women, spearheaded a fight for women’s suffrage.• She was successful in doing so and made actions like women’s vote possible.• The 19th Amendment was then created in 1920.
