  • 2. NU TRI TI ON Nutrients give our cells all the energy they need The DIGESTIVE SYSTEM , the RESPIRATORY SYSTEM , the CIRCULATORY SYSTEM and the EXCRETORY SYSTEM carry out the fuction of nutrition .
  • 3. The Digestive System It has two parts: Digestive tract and digestive glands • The mouth has salivary glands that produce saliva. Teeth that chew food and Tongue that mixes chewed food with saliva to form a ball of food. • The pharynx connects the mouth and the oesophagus •The stomach is where the food mixes with gastric juices. •The oesophagus transport the food to the stomach. •The pancreas helps in the digestion of proteins •The liver secretes bile. •The large intestine absorbs water which passes to the blood. And finally, undigested substances are expelled through the anus. •The small intestine is the longest part of the digestive tract. Nutrients pass into the blood through its walls.
  • 4. The Respiratory System Is in charge of breathing . Breathing makes two movements. • Inhale air and it goest into to the lungs • Exhale air sending it out of the lungs When we breathe, the oxygen in the air goes to the blood through the alveoli, and the carbon dioxide from the blood is released outside the body
  • 5. The Excretory System • Function: It filters waste substances from the blood • It removes them from the body through excretion It is made up of: Sweet glands and the Urinary System  SWEAT GLANDS Produce sweat  THE URINARY SYSTEM: is made up of • The kidneys: remove waste substances from the blood and they make urine • Ureters: connects the kidneys to the bladder • Bladder: stores the urine • Urethra : connects the bladder to the outside
  • 6. The Circulatory System • Function: It transports nutrients and oxygen to our cells. • It is made up of: the heart, blood and blood vessels. HEART • Is a muscular organ • function: Pumps blood around the body BLOOD Function: • Collects oxygen and nutrients and transport them to al cells. • Collects waste substances and takes them to the sweat glands and the urinary system BLOOD VESSELS Types: • Arteries: carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body. • Veins: carry blood from all over the body back to the heart. • Capillaries: are very thin vessels that reach all the cells of the body.
  • 7. The Circulatory System BLOOD: is a red liquid tissue made up of cells that float in a liquid called plasma .
  • 8. The Circulatory System There are three types of blood cells: RED BLOOD CELLS Function: Carry out oxygen WHITE BLOOD CELLS Function: remove bacteria and viruses from the blood. PLATELETS Are small fragments of cells. Function Form blood clots when a blood vessel breaks
  • 9. The Circulatory System The heart Human Circulation: • Is closed • Is double
