The Deity of Christ
John 20:24 But Thomas , one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe . John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus , the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said , Peace, be unto you. John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Could you, like Thomas, bow before Jesus and say, “ My Lord and my God.”   I hope so. Some people would object however. They will tell you that Jesus is not God. Why?
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Could you, like Thomas, bow before Jesus and say, “ My Lord and my God.”   If you can’t call Jesus “My Lord and my God:” Are you following the same beliefs that Jesus taught his disciples? Are you one of those of whom Jesus spoke saying, “ blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. ”
Jesus was only God’s son, a demi-god. Half god, half human. Jesus was a man, He was prophet, He was teacher. Jesus is a lesser god. John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Does the Bible say Jesus is God ? The issue is really a Bible issue. The Bible was corrupted. Men changed the Bible to make Jesus a god. The Bible can only be understood in light of new prophecies or new discoveries. Our prophet or our scholars have corrected the Bible. The Bible cannot be taken literally. The Bible is full of errors and mistranslations Sooner or later it comes to…
In Jesus’ day two factions of Jews were split over the doctrine of the resurrection. Acts 23:8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. In the Old Testament the doctrine of the resurrection is a little hard to find. You can find it, and you can also argue against it. The Sadducees came to Jesus with a logic problem that they believed showed that people were not to be resurrected. Mark 12:23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife. Jesus in his response showed that he believed the 1500 year old book of Exodus was accurate down to one exact word.
Jesus in his response showed that he believed the 1500 year old book of Exodus was accurate down to one exact word.   Mark 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God? Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. Mark 12:26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.   Jesus showed that God didn’t say I was the God of Abraham and Jacob , but he said I am the God the God of Abraham and Jacob .   In John 8:58 “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. ”
How could God exist in corrupt human flesh ? How could God be three separate persons? How could God, whom heaven and earth can’t contain, exist in a human body ? If Jesus was God why did he pray and talk to God ? Why did Jesus say God the Father was greater than himself ? Why did Jesus pray for God the Father to remove this cup if possible? How could God die? Why did Jesus say the Father knew the hour of Judgement but he didn’t ? Jesus never said “I am God” Only that he was the “Son of Man” Problems in Human Logic and Understanding
Is it possible that “ Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. If the Bible says that Jesus is God would you humble your thinking to the teaching of God’s word, or would you correct God’s word with your thinking and understanding?

If the Bible says that Jesus is God, could you humble yourself and say, “I don’t understand, but God, you are right and I am wrong.”

The God who created the universe might be a little more complex than our minds can understand. He must exist outside the three dimensions of our universe and outside of time.
We know God by what he has revealed to us in His word.
We know God by what he has revealed to us in His word.
Could God exist at two places at once with two distinct personalities ? Could God appear in human form if He wished ? Is flesh evil or is sin evil? When God created the world was it “very good”? Are human bodies corrupt or is it our hearts? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. Mattthew15:17-20
Then your objection is: I don’t believe that … Our church doesn’t teach that … But if the Bible does teach that then … You have another set of beliefs other than those taught in the Bible. You are following a different religion than that taught in the Bible. You have a different Jesus than he the one taught about in the Bible.
Be very sure ! Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Thou shalt have no other Gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Honor thy father and thy mother. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Thou shalt not covet. The 10 Commandments Excerpts from Exodus 20: In the 10 commandments God said, Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. A quick note on the Bible When Jews read their scripture and came across God’s name they pronounced “Lord.” The Christian writers who translated the Bible followed the example when possible.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. … John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh , and dwelt among us , (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. … John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born , unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God , The everlasting Father , The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end , upon the throne of David , and upon his kingdom , to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever . The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS . Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David : Luke 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever ; and of his kingdom there shall be no end .

Is Jesus one God and God the Father another. How many Gods are there in the Bible?   The Bible speaks of gods with a little “”g” (things that men worship as gods)    1 Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one . 1 Corinthians 8:5 For though there be that are called gods , whether in heaven or in earth , (as there be gods many, and lords many ,) 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God , the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ , by whom are all things, and we by him.

Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. How about now? Could you still, like Thomas, bow before Jesus and say, “ My Lord and my God.”
  Exodus 20:3  Thou shalt have  no other gods  before me.  Exodus 20:4  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness  of   any   thing  that  is  in heaven above, or that  is  in the earth beneath, or that  is  in the water under the earth:  Exodus 20:5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:  for I the LORD thy God  am  a jealous God , visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth  generation  of them that hate me;

How many true Gods are there?
Jeremiah 10:10 But the LORD is the true God , he is the living God, and an everlasting king : at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. 1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God ;     1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God , and eternal life.    John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
The Bible teaches that Jesus is a separate person from God the Father. Many cults will use these verses to say Jesus isn’t God. But they don’t believe the Bible. If: … “the Word was God” … Jesus was “my Lord and my God” Jesus is called “the Mighty God” as the Bible says. Then Jesus is either the true God or his is a __ __ __ __ __ god.

Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The Bible teaches: Jesus is God. The Bible teaches: There is only one God. The Bible teaches: Jesus is separate from God the Father and the Spirit of God. The Bible teaches: Jesus and the God the Father are one. The Bible teaches: Jesus humbled himself; he became obedient to God the Father, he called God the Father greater than himself.
Those that spoke the language and dialect and talked directly to Jesus thought he was calling himself God. John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:30 I and my Father are one. John 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. John 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. Those that spoke the language and dialect and talked directly to Jesus thought he was calling himself God.
Matthew 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matthew 26:65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. Those that spoke the language and dialect and talked directly to Jesus thought he was calling himself God.
Luke 5:20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. Luke 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? Luke 5:22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Luke 5:23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? Luke 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. Luke 5:25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. Jesus could forgive sins:
John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.   John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.   John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.   John 12:32 And I , if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.   John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.   John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do , that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.     John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.   John 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. A quick search of the times Jesus said, “I will”
John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.   John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.   John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.   John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. John 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.   John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.   John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?   John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. A quick search of the times Jesus said, “I Am”
Believest thou this?   John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. A quick search of the times Jesus said, “I Am”
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Could you, like Thomas, bow before Jesus and say, “ My Lord and my God.”    Could you call him your Lord and Savior? Could you call him your Redeemer? Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Will go to Jesus in prayer and ask him to forgive your sins and to save you, like the blind and the lame men that came to Jesus when he was on earth or will you let the Pharisees of our day tell you it is blasphemy and if you do they will throw you out of the temple. The Pharisees trusted in their good deeds, their faithfulness in the law of Moses, their position in their religious society and they taught others to strive for the same to be saved. They rejected Jesus.

The Deity of christ

  • 5. John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Could you, like Thomas, bow before Jesus and say, “ My Lord and my God.”   I hope so. Some people would object however. They will tell you that Jesus is not God. Why?

Another God beside God the Father John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. If Jesus isn’t God, WHO IS HE ?

  • 11. The Bible is full of errors and mistranslations Sooner or later it comes to…

  • 26. Of course two different objects can’t be the same object. Unless we introduce another dimension.
  • 27. The God who created the universe might be a little more complex than our minds can understand. He must exist outside the three dimensions of our universe and outside of time.
  • 28. We know God by what he has revealed to us in His word.
  • 29. We know God by what he has revealed to us in His word.
  • 31. Then your objection is: I don’t believe that … Our church doesn’t teach that … But if the Bible does teach that then … You have another set of beliefs other than those taught in the Bible. You are following a different religion than that taught in the Bible. You have a different Jesus than he the one taught about in the Bible.

Editor's Notes

  1. The Mormons may be said to believe Jesus is a separate God, the God of this world, while the Father lives on the planet kolob, and is the God of that world and this world. The Mormons and the J.W.’s believe Jesus is a created being, just under God. Islam of course believes that Jesus was a prophet, deists and universalist believe him to be a prophet or a teacher sent from God. Hindu’s and Buddhists may also fall into this category. One thing, Jesus is such an historical and powerful religious figure, that almost all the worlds religions must try to fit him into their framework because they cannot deny his existence and power. The other thing is that they must deny the record of what he said and what his followers preached afterward, because he denounced them all. They need to destroy the credibility of the Bible as it has come down to us and write their own book.
  2. OK let’s stretch our minds a little with a logic problem.
  3. It’s only because we were thinking in two dimensions not three. In real life we only think in three dimensions because that is all we know.
  4. Interesting note: Microsoft Office spell check understands that there is only one Saviour spelled with an “I” and capitalized. It recognizes Saviour as word but correctly understands that it cannot be plural or un-capitalized.
  5. Well, if you have trouble calling Jesus God because there is only one God, then maybe you will have trouble calling Jesus Saviour because there is only one Saviour.
  6. In fact there is no other name under heaven given amongst men whereby we can be saved.
  7. Well, if you have trouble calling Jesus God because there is only one God, then maybe you will have trouble calling Jesus your redeemer because there is only one redeemer.
  8. Yet, Jesus redeemed us by his own blood.
  9. I think that these Bible doctrines can answer any logic problem that the cults bring up.
  10. As far as mistranslations and copying errors… those that heard the very words that Jesus spoke and understood and spoke the very language and dialect that Jesus spoke, thought he was calling himself God or making himself equal with God.
  11. Those around him who heard him speak, understood that he was forgiving sins with his own authority.
  12. I did a simple word search of the gospels and the words “I will” in red, to find all the times Jesus said “I will” some were interesting. Jesus seemed to preach it was his decision who would be cast out, who would be raised from the dead, that he would give his body for us, who he would receive in the mansions of heaven, that he would answer prayers, he said the Holy Ghost would come and comfort the apostles, then he said he would come and comfort them, he seemed to think if he willed it then the apostle John would live till he came again.
  13. I did a simple word search of the gospels and the words “I am” in red, to find all the times Jesus said “I am” some were interesting. Jesus said he is the bread of life, he is the light of the world, he is the door of salvation, he is the good shepherd, he is the resurrection, he is the way, the truth and the life, and if we don’t believe he was who he said he was we will die in our sins.
