Qualified participants only had to pay 35%. The subsidy cost the taxpayers $25 billion. Medicaid is the cheapest solution, if you are losing your COBRA coverage. But qualifying is tough, unless you are near homeless.

  • The COBRA subsidy was a short term solution to a long term problem. A mismatched answer. The long term solution would have been to address healthcare inflation.
