  • 2. WHAT IS PINTEREST?Pinterest is a social bookmarking tool that lets users organize and share things they find on the web. People use pinboards to do things like plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize theirfavorite recipes. Users also browse the pinboards of others to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share their interests.
  • 3. HOW DOES IT WORK?A pin is an image added to Pinterest. Each pin links back to the site it came from.Users find pins from sites all across the web, and then add pins using the ‘Pin It’ button.A board is a set of pins. A board can be created on any topic, such as Cool Posters, Recipes For Dinner, or Wishlist.
  • 4. HOW CAN BRANDS USE IT? Brands are using Pinterest to show off their personality. They share images that support their brand values, and highlight images, products and ideas related to their business function. They share ideas on how to use a company’s products, and make their products more accessible. Brands have also started experimenting with contests, where users submit pins related to a given topic for a chance to win prizes.

WHY PINTEREST?• Viral: Currently 7th most visited social network, just behind LinkedIn but ahead of Google+ and Yelp• Untapped Demo: 4 million users - 59% of visitors are women, age 25-44• Geo: Majority of visitors from California and Texas, with strong activity in Alabama, Tennessee, Utah and Nebraska• Engaged Audience: Real Simple already has more visitors from Pinterest than Facebook• PR Potential: Reporters are covering this new trend, and highlighting brands that are experimenting with the site
