Life is too short and too precious to spend it withering away in the corporate halls of despair. Become a corporate rebel! Shake things up! (It takes time but even an oil tanker can be turned around.) Or work up the courage to leave and start or join an organization where you feel you can make a difference. We run a self-empowerment gym for people willing to take the leap. You’ll learn how to adopt a Player Mindset, how to run the Judgment Factory, and why “Impossible" is just an opinion.

  • One average, 1 out of 10 employees hates his or her job.
  • 1 out of 10 loves it.
  • The remaining 8 don’t really care!
  • Just look at this lovely state of work life that we have created! This is what has been keeping me up at night for years.Let’s do a secret show of hands – and make a mutual commitment that this picture stays between us: How many of you love your job?Hate your job?Don’t care?Even when we love what we do, there are plenty of days that feel sub-optimal.There are obviously many systemic organizational and cultural reasons for that.We won’t touch upon those today. Today, our goal is to explore all the little grey people can do to feel more like the green person more days of the year.
  • Just like in the gym, you won’t see me walking around and lecturing. We will start each session with a quick stress test to gauge where everybody is at.Then we will inject a bit of videographic inspiration. And then 3-5 exercises for each muscle group! We will make adjustments and learn as we go together. This should high-energy, high-pace and fun. The serious kind of fun.
  • So, here are the muscle groups and what we will focus on:We’ll start with Purpose & Passion and zoom in on the source of your DRIVE, why you get out of bed in the morning. Our next mental muscle group will be Optimism. We are not talking about naïve belief here that everything is going to be fine, but the grown up version of Optimism where we choose to make the best out of every situation, see opportunities rather than wallow in self-pity. In other words, we learn how to decide to PLAY, rather than sit on the backbench and complain. Our third mental muscle group is the most delicate: Trust. Most of our work life depends on inter-personal trust. When it’s lacking or in short supply, many work and personal troubles follow. It’s a tough one to train but it starts with your mind or mind-fulness, to be precise. The last but certainly not least muscle group is Creativity. This mental muscle group has been rapidly gaining in significance as we’ve been transitioning to the Creative Economy. You need all four muscles to manoeuvre yourself into a situation where you love what you do. But this is rapidly becoming the work horse of our work lives. And here we will go against conventional wisdom for what it takes to build up this muscle – REMIXing, rather than inspiration is the key here.OK, so these are the four muscle groups we will focus on today. How are we going to build them?

Your professional life is not always a walk in the park, but challenges energize you and you know they help you learn and grow. You get stuff done. You focus on the things you can influence instead of the things you can’t and quickly turn problems into solutions. You gladly infect others with your enthusiasm and always show up as who you truly are. Life is too short to walk around pretending anyway. You empower yourself, take risks and know that a mistakes is just a sign that you are trying and that you’re getting it right the next time. You trust the good intentions of others and you trust in yourself. You feel happy because you have realized that life is a journey – and that it is up to you to make yours an amazing one. Now imagine you are surrounded by people with a similar outlook on life. It’s possible.

Corporate Spring taught me how to change that view, how to reconnect with my dreams and find new meaning and energy to tackle the realities of working in a large corporation. Forget standard corporate courses on leadership and development. The self-empowerment gym is 100 times more insightful and effective! The Empowerment Gym helps you realize your big WHY, what you are truly passionate about and what makes your eyes truly shine in the workplace.
