1. Why teach and learn PD/H/PE in Primary School? In 2C we have spoken about why it is important to learn and by taught Personal Development, Health and Physical Education in Primary School. Together we have made this slideshow demonstrating why PD/H/PE is so important for students.

2. What & Why PDH? Through Personal Development and Heath Education, lessons will be centered around educating and transforming children’s understanding and knowledge, developing critically reflective children who are able to make decisions for a healthier and fulfilling life (Tinning, McCuaig & Hunter, 2006). Teaching PD/H/PE will focus on Growth and Development, Interpersonal Relationships, Personal Healthy Choices and Safe Living (PD/H/PE Syllabus, 1999).

3. What & Why PE? Just as PDH educates students about healthier lifestyles, Physical Education promotes healthier lifestyles and active lifestyles (NSW Communities, 2011), diminishes health issues such as obesity and diabetes and creates positive relationships with each other and the community. Through physical activity and education, it also creates a healthy mental and emotional wellbeing for all students through active living.

4. PD/H/PE in 2C Ultimately, within 2C Personal Development, Health and Physical Education will focus on encouraging students to make informed decisions about health and physical activity, while developing positive attitudes to healthy living. Through PD/H/PE students will develop a life long commitment to valuing healthy lifestyles, positive attitudes and active living. (PD/H/PE Syllabus, 2011)
