What should I know now? <ul><li>It is completely normal that you (a grade 8 student) has no idea (yet) what they want to take in Grade 11 and 12 </li></ul><ul><li>A few course decisions for grade 9 can impact future options (IB choices/Post-secondary) </li></ul><ul><li>Many IB subjects have pre-requisites </li></ul><ul><li>Certain subjects (as a result of their strict pre-requisites) require some special care & attention by students/parents during the course selection process </li></ul>

IB Subject Flow (Science) <ul><li>Integrated Science 1 combines and integrates the three content areas of biology, chemistry and physics. </li></ul><ul><li>In grade 10 you will have the choice of continuing with Integrated Science 2 or specializing with a full year course in either biology, chemistry or physics. </li></ul>
  18. 20. IB Subject Flow (Modern Lang.) <ul><li>Students are strongly recommended to continue to their modern language from grade 8 </li></ul><ul><li>Colleges prefer that students stick with one second language. </li></ul><ul><li>French (grade 8) </li></ul><ul><li>French (grade 9) </li></ul>

Other Advice? <ul><li>Fine & Performing Arts Block </li></ul><ul><li>If you are planning to do an IB Group 6 Arts (Art, Film or Theater) in grade 11, we recommend that you take the “Intro” course in that area in grade 9 (Intro Art, Intro Theater or Intro Film). </li></ul><ul><li>Your Elective </li></ul><ul><li>Unfortunately, you do not have an elective as a grade 9. You will have one as a grade 10. </li></ul>
