  4. 4. EnlighteningEnlightening  Ephesians 1:17-23  17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:  18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,  19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,  20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,  21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:  22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,  23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all God’s Word reveals, illuminates,God’s Word reveals, illuminates, and enlightens our souls.and enlightens our souls. Psa 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path Psa 119:130 The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple. The Word will reveal the right paths and give us supernatural direction
  5. 5. ConvictingConvicting  John 16:7-11 However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. (8) And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment: (9) About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me]; (10) About righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God), because I go to My Father, and you will see Me no longer; (11) About judgment, because the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world [Satan] is judged and condemned and sentence already is passed upon him. God’s Word convicts our heartsGod’s Word convicts our hearts whenever we are not followingwhenever we are not following the Word as we shouldthe Word as we should The Holy Spirit will convict theThe Holy Spirit will convict the hearers of the Wordhearers of the Word It is the ministry of the WordIt is the ministry of the Word and the Spirit to convict, it is notand the Spirit to convict, it is not the “job” of preachers or “selfthe “job” of preachers or “self employed” judgesemployed” judges 3 areas of conviction:3 areas of conviction: sin – the world needs a saviorsin – the world needs a savior righteousness – Jesus is the ONErighteousness – Jesus is the ONE Judgment- rejecting Jesus resultsJudgment- rejecting Jesus results in judgment from Godin judgment from God
  6. 6. WashingWashing  Romans 12:1-3  12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. God’s Word cleans us upGod’s Word cleans us up The Word washes our minds soThe Word washes our minds so that we are thinking in line withthat we are thinking in line with the Wordthe Word
  7. 7. EncouragingEncouraging  Colossians 2:2-5  2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;  3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.  4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.  5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. God’s Word lifts us up in toughGod’s Word lifts us up in tough timestimes The Word establishes properThe Word establishes proper order in our livesorder in our lives There is encouragement in HisThere is encouragement in His Presence and in His WordPresence and in His Word Encourage saints finish andEncourage saints finish and fulfill their callings.fulfill their callings.

And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.  9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.  13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
