With offices dotted around the globe, the firm has successfully embedded e-learning as a vital component of its learning strategy to reach all staff regardless of their location.
  3. 3. Diversity and quality of skills Clifford Chance clients are accustomed to receiving a consistently high level of service, delivered seamlessly wherever they are in the globe. To maintain the quality of its services, Clifford Chance employees need excellent legal knowledge, business and relationship building skills. So, the delivery of learning across these areas is key to the firm's success. Time pressured and globally dispersed staff Majority of their staff are time pressured fee-earners dispersed across the world. This means Clifford Chance’s L&D team must constantly find new, effective and consistent quality learning initiatives and deliver them to a global audience. THE DISCOVERY We realised very quickly that if we wanted to consolidate the initial enthusiasm for e-learning as part of our learning culture, we needed to increase the quality of content and interactivity. Learning is designed to take place as and when it suits staff, and can be accessed anywhere in the world. Thanks to this more informal style of learning, fee earners spend less time away from the office while improving their individual performance. e-Learning has become a part of blended learning model at Clifford Chance, where the theory is covered with e-learning; and classroom time is reserved for brainstorming and role playing. By reducing training expenses and time away from the office, Clifford Chance is achieving a better return on its learning investment.

Learner uptake at the firm has been excellent and feedback shows that learners rate it as highly as classroom courses - giving it 86% satisfaction rating for excellence based on content, presentation and relevance. As a result, the overall skill level of the firm has been improved. In fact, in one year alone, 6,000 e-learning module completions were recorded.
