  6. Founding and Funding <ul><li>Founded specifically to break down barriers to participation in open source projects in commercial settings </li></ul><ul><li>Initial funding of $1 million US from Microsoft </li></ul><ul><li>A 501c6 corporation </li></ul>

Contributions, Licenses and Patents <ul><li>Straightforward contributor agreement – see Foundation website </li></ul><ul><li>Where software companies contribute source, broad patent portfolios will not transfer. </li></ul><ul><li>Foundation will extend rights to all downstream developers and users of the contributed code </li></ul><ul><li>License-agnostic </li></ul>
