Music producers

 1. 1. Music Producers
2. 2. Definition
A record producer is an individual working within the music industry, whose job is to oversee and manage the recording (i.e. "production") of an artist's music. A producer has many roles that may include, but are not limited to, gathering ideas for the project, selecting songs and/or musicians, coaching the artist and musicians in the studio, controlling the recording sessions, and supervising the entire process through mixing and mastering. Producers also often take on a wider entrepreneurial role, with responsibility for the budget, schedules, and negotiations.
Today, the recording industry has two kinds of producers: executive producer and music producer; they have different roles. While an executive producer oversees a project's finances, a music producer oversees the creation of the music.
3. 3. Legendary Producers
Sam Philips – SUN Records Sam Philips practically invented rock and roll, with his recordings of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis. He also helped Blues artists like BB King, Howling Wolf and Ike Turner get recorded. Technically the classic Sun Studio recordings are known for trademark 'slapback' echo and more of a raw sound than typical 50's pop
4. 4. Legendary Producers
Eddie Kramer – Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin Eddie Kramer, is legendary in audio production circles for his work with Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Small Faces, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, KISS, Crosby Stills & Nash, Santana, Frank Zappa, Tommy Bolin, Buddy Guy, and the 1969 Woodstock festival, plus countless others including Texas all-stars Johnny Winter and Double Trouble with Buddy Guy. He is also known for his music photography.
5. 5. Super Producers
Jermaine Dupri
A rap artist in his own right, Jermaine Dupri is also one of the most successful pop and rap producers in the business. He has been a significant contributor to major hit albums by Mariah Carey, Usher, Bow Wow, and KrissKross, to name a few.
6. 6. Super Producers
Linda Perry
Linda Perry first gained fame as vocalist for the group 4 Non Blondes who had a huge international hit with the song "What's Up?" In recent years she has had significant success as a songwriter and producer working with such artists as Pink, James Blunt, and Christina Aguilera.
7. 7. Super Producers
Scott Storch
Keyboardist Scott Storch has become one of the hottest producers and songwriters in the music business. He has been behind the boards on some of the top recent hits by Beyonce, 50 Cent, Mario and Chris Brown.
