  2. 2. Steel VS Aluminum
  3. 3. For many years the RV industry has used a light-weighttubular aluminum framing to act as the foundation increating strength for the “box” of their motorhomes. Thisstrategy has had little discussion as most manufacturersfavor working with aluminum because of perceived weightsavings as well as the ease of spot welding and moving theframing process down the assembly line without trulymeasuring the safety factor. www.nexusrv.com or call toll-free 1-855-786-3987
  4. 4. At Nexus RV, we have done some additional research and what wefound is very important. We know that steel has added strength anddurability to our construction. Prior to making high-strength, low-alloytubular steel part of our standard construction, we had scientistscompare the standard aluminum tube to our steel tube and theresults were exactly what we expected. Nexus RV has produced aframing system that is 50-70% stronger than the rest of the industry. This decision to use steel not only increases the overall strength ofthe frame, but will also eliminate the chance for oxidation as thefasteners used by Nexus RV are galvanized steel screws. Oxidation isthe process in which the mixing of two types of metals(steel andaluminum) together cause corrosion. At Nexus there is no chance ofoxidation as we do not use any fragile tubular aluminum. www.nexusrv.com or call toll-free 1-855-786-3987
  5. 5. Another great benefit to high-strength/low-alloysteel is that the welds are able to be much strongerdue to the strength of the steel. Contrarily, whendealing with thin light-weight aluminum, it isdifficult to achieve a strong weld. This limitationincreases the chance for welds to break in the frameof the unit. www.nexusrv.com or call toll-free 1-855-786-3987
  6. 6. A criticism of using steel is adding weight to themotorhome. This is true, but using a high-strengthlow-alloy steel will limit the increase in weight whilegiving the structural framing the benefit of steel. Infact, we have added only 50-60lbs to each unit builtdue to the differences between aluminum and steel. We feel the added weight is well worth it in theevent of your motorhome needing that extrastrength as you travel around the country. www.nexusrv.com or call toll-free 1-855-786-3987
