Caries Assessment
Review of dental history and examination to determine past history of caries
Review diet, habits and circumstances
Test for bacteria ( plaque and mutans streptococci)
Test for sa liva secretion and saliva buffer capacity

Caries report
Illustrates interactions between the related factors giving rise to your caries
Shows the risk for developing new caries in the future
Shows how specific actions can reduce the risk of new caries in the near future

Agree caries intervention and prevention plan
Develop plan based on patient risk factors using some or all of the following:
saliva and bacterial testing;
antibacterials;
fluoride consumption, use, and professional application of fluoride varnish;
frequency of radiographs;
frequency of periodic examinations;
oral hygiene instructions;
xylitol and/or baking soda;
sealants
