  • Hello and welcome to this joint webcast from EMC, Cisco and SAP focusing on transforming SAP landscapes leveraging cloud and big data I want to begin by thanking you for joining us today. My name is RobEnderle, I am with the Enderle Group. I’m very excited to be acting as your narrator for this broadcast. I’d like to introduce our speakers today: Rajiv Thomas is with Cisco and is responsible for SAP HANA in the Americas. Andy Sitison is with EMC. Andy runs the Applications Sales Programs in our Global Alliances Organization.  Mark Thorp. Mark has responsibility for SAP’s Global Partnerships with EMC, VMware and VCE. We’ll cover some of the market dynamics in SAP customer environments and what issues these create that impact CIOs today. We’ll talk to the evolving landscape for SAP application environments towards cloud computing. We’ll spend the majority of the time focusing on EMC and Cisco Solutions for cloud computing including virtualized SAP as well as new solutions for high speed data analytics with SAP HANA.(Transition: Mark, when starting a discussion of improving infrastructure for SAP applications, it’s important to start with an understanding of what SAP customer environments look like today. Can you walk us through that?)
  • To help SAP customers accelerate their journey to private cloud computing, EMC and SAP announced a preferred, three-way strategy collaboration with EMC and VMware in November of 2011 consisting of the following focus areas:.The fist component involves new levels of investment between SAP,EMC and VMware to deliver an end-to-end optimized server and storage infrastructure for running mission-critical SAP applications in a virtualized private cloud. As part of this SAP will develop VMware vSphere®-based virtual appliances and collaborate with EMC to develop new automation and management tools to deliver infrastructure-as-a-service for SAP administrators. The second component involves EMC aligning with our partner Cisco to test and qualify the SAP HANA software analytics platform on Cisco UCS server and networks with EMC tiered storage for high speed data analytics. This deep collaboration will align with SAP’s long term strategy of providing in-memory computing technology to deliver actionable insight into business processes for customers. The third and final part of this announcement includes new SAP Services Offerings to help customers leverage expertise from EMC and SAP to accelerate upgrades to the SAP virtualized private cloud environments and deployment of HANA analytic environments. Let’s now look a little deeper into some of the EMC and SAP technologies underlying this announcement, starting with the EMC, SAP Solutions for Private Cloud Computing.
