New Product introduction Catalyst 6807-XL Announced at Cisco Live Orlando end of June, Catalyst 6807-XL should be available before end of December 2013. As a reminder, Catalyst 6807-XL has the following features: - Built for campus backbone 10/40/100 Gb/s services - 10 RU - 7 slots (2 slots for the Sup and 5 for the Linecards) - Investment protection with support for Sup2T, and all Sup2T related Linecards, NAM3, ASA-SM, WiSM2, ACE30 service modules - CTS (MacSec & SGT) - Support for Catalyst 6800 Instant Access - Up to 880 Gb/s per slot - 11,4 Tb/s (full duplex) - Standby fabric hot sync : decreases the supervisor engine switchover time of Sup2T based systems to a time of 50 to 200 ms, depending on the modules being used. - 4 Power Supplies - Hot-swappable fan tray - The variable speed fans in the fan tray can handle individual fan failures (N+1 redundancy) and still provide sufficient cooling to the chassis - Side-to-side airflow - OIR (Online Insertion Removal) of the following components: supervisor engines, linecard modules, power supplies, and fan tray. - SDN ready - 40 Gb/s ports and 100 Gb/s ports modules (roadmap’ed) - VSS support - All current Sup2T features are supported by day-1 More Catalyst 6807-XL Information
  2. 2. Catalyst 6880-X Announced at Cisco Live Orlando end of June, Catalyst 6880-X should be available before end of December 2013. As a reminder, Catalyst 6880-X has the following features: - Built for campus backbone & distribution for 10/40/100 Gb/s services - 5 slots (one fixed and 4 extensible half-wide slots) - 16 ports 1/10 Gb/s integrated with the Sup on the fixed slot - 4,85 RU - Total of 80 ports SFP+ max with 4 modules (16 ports 1/10 Gb/s each) - Support for Catalyst 6800 Instant Access - Runs on the same architecture as the Catalyst 6500 Sup2T - Available in 2 versions : o C6880-X-LE with standard FIB/ACL/Netflow tables o C6880-X with larger FIB/ACL/Netflow tables - 2 Power Supplies - Up to 200 Gb/s slot capacity per port-card - Up to 2 Tb/s of switching capacity which doubles to 4 Tb/s with VSS technology. - CTS (MacSec & SGT) - Flexible and Sampled NetFlow - VSS support - OIR supported for redundant power supplies and port cards. - SDN ready - All Sup2T features are supported by day-1 - Roadmap : 40 Gb/s modules (for a total density of 20 ports 40Gb/s) More Catalyst 6880-X Information Catalyst 6800ia Announced at Cisco Live Orlando end of June, the Catalyst 6800ia (ia = Intelligent Access) is available since end of September 2013. Catalyst 6800ia (ia = Intelligent Access) have the following features: - Somehow equivalent to what Nexus 2000 is regarding Nexus 5000/6000/7000 (a kind of Campus-FEX) - Connects to a Catalyst 6800 (6880-X, 6807-XL) or to a 6500-E with Sup2T and 6904 linecard. - Stackable (up to 3 members at FCS) : FlexStack-Plus capability, which provides up to 80 Gb/s stack bandwidth - Catalyst 6800ia switches only stack with other Catalyst 6800ia switches - PoE+ and non PoE+ versions, all with 48 ports 10/100/1000 and 2 x 10 Gb/s SFP+ uplinks (=> subscription ratio of 2.4:1) o C6800IA-48TD (7000 USD GPL): Catalyst 6800 Instant Access Data Switch o C6800IA-48FPD (9000 USD GPL): Catalyst 6800 Instant Access POE+ Switch - Does not use Spanning Tree Protocol in the « fabric links » between the Catalyst 6800ia switch and the Catalyst 6500/6800 parent switch - Catalyst 6848ia does not support any local switching. All the Layer 2 switching, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), and Layer 3 routing happens on the Instant Access parent - Ships with a built-in power supply specific to the model function - RPS 2300 support - All ports in Catalyst 6800ia series are MACsec hardware ready - IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) enables dynamic power savings on all switch ports - It is recommended to have a redundant supervisor engine in Cisco Catalyst 6500/6800 chassis with singlechassis Instant Access parent configuration - Catalyst 6848ia supports local replication of multicast flows - Supports eFSU - Can be single-attached or dual-attached to the VSS pair - Cisco-FET-10G is not supported in the Instant Access solution (so remains specific to Nexus 2000) - At FCS, the Instant Access parent can support up to 21 Instant Access clients and a maximum of 12 Instant Access stack IDs (FEXIDs).   3. 3. Catalyst 4500-E Sup8-E is available since 22nd of August 2013. As a reminder, Catalyst 4500-E Sup8-E has the following features: - Supported in C4500-E: 4503-E, 4506-R, 4507R+E, 4510R+E (4507R-E and 4510R-E roadmaped) - Bandwidth per slot : 48 Gb/s (like Sup7-E) - Up to 928 Gb/s of wired access per system - Maximum switching capacity : 1.8 Tb/s (VSS mode, roadmap’ed) - Maximum packets per second : 500 million (VSS mode) - 8 non blocking 1/10 Gb/s uplinks with FPGA devices to support next-generation protocols (4 ports on Sup7-E) - UADP ASIC (Unified Access Data Plane ASIC), like on Catalyst 3850 - Supports UPoE - Flexible NetFlow and Wireshark on all ports; wireless attributes included - Medianet - ISSU (less than 200 msec) - Extended Nonstop Forwarding/Stateful Switchover (NSF/SSO) (take over in subsecond time if the primary engine fails) to wireless traffic. These features help ensure that VoIP calls are not dropped. - Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) : IEEE 802.3az - EnergyWise - Operate with IOS-XE (3.3.0X0 min) - Full backward compatibility with 6-, 24-, and 48-Gbps slot line cards with no performance degradation - MacSec support - VSS (roadmaped for Q2CY2014) - Up to 20 Gb/s wireless throughput, 50 access points, and 2000 wireless clients on a single system (roadmap for end of CY2014) - Hardware ready to support flexible storage options (Secure Digital (SD) card) using USB port - Same price as for Sup7-E More Catalyst 4500-E Sup8-E Information Introducing Catalyst 3850 UPOE models Catalyst 3850 family received end of October 2013, 2 new family members supporting UPOE (60W power per port) - 24 ports version (WS-C3850-24U): 1 RU - 48 ports versions (WS-C3850-48U): 1 RU Catalyst 3850 Datasheet (updated with UPOE models information) Introducing Catalyst 3650 Catalyst 3650 family is available since 9th of October 2013. Catalyst 3650 is the second UDAP ASIC based, Cisco Unified Access switch (after Catalyst 3850 introduced earlier this year) and integrates wireless controller functionality for wired and wireless convergence. Catalyst 3650 have the following features: - 24 and 48 10/100/1000 data and PoE+ models with energy-efficient Ethernet (EEE) - Modular IOS-XE (hosts today IOS daemon and hosted applications like Wireless LAN Controler and Wireshark) - The wired plus wireless features are bundled into a single IOS Software image (so one common CLI), which reduces the number of S/W images that customer have to qualify/certify before enabling them in their network. - Supports wireless tunnel termination (CAPWAP) and full wireless LAN controller functionality - Support for up to 25 access points and 1000 wireless clients on each switching entity (switch or stack) - Choice for LAN Base, IP Base and IP Services - 40 Gb/s wireless throughput max - Full POE+ (depends on Power Supply combinations) - SSO/NSF - Access points continue to remain connected during an active-to-standby switchover - 9 switch members in a stack - 160 Gb/s stacking - Redundant Power supplies and fans (2 PSU and 3 FAN) - All switches ships with one PS - Built-in Flexible NetFlow (FNF) for all ports: Full visibility into the wired plus wireless traffic - Cisco Catalyst Smart Operations (set of features that includes Smart Install, Auto Smartports, Smart Configuration and Smart Troubleshooting) - IP Base or IP Services software needed in order to use the Catalyst 3650 Series Switch as a wireless controller - An access point license is required for Catalyst 3650 operating in mobility controller (MC) mode - No access point license is required for 3650 operating in mobility agent (MA) mode (This functionality is included in the IP Base feature set)

As a reminder, Catalyst 2960-X have the following features: - 24 and 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports versions - PoE/PoE+ - Full PoE - Wirespeed - 4 SFP or 2 x 10 SFP+ uplinks - 2 x stack members (8), 2 x bandwidth (80 Gb/s), and 2 x CPU, 2x Buffer (4 MB) and 2x Queues (8) compared to Catalyst 2960-S - The Greenest Switch Ever with best-in-class energy efficiency, Switch & Port Hibernation (down to 6W in hibernate mode) - NetFlow Lite - Mixed stacking with existing Catalyst 2960-S/SF switches - Fully integrated with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for one policy and Cisco Prime for one management, to simplify BYOD deployment - Supported by RPS 2300 - EnergyWise - SDN (onePK) Ready - Same price as Catalyst 2960-S Note that Catalyst 2960X-24PSQ-L is a Fan-less model with 24 Ports (including 8 PoE ports), will be available in a few days. Catalyst 2960-S Series is not yet EOS but Catalyst 2960-X Series should already be prefered. More Catalyst 2960-X Information Catalyst 2960-XR are be available since 26th of August 2013 and have the following features: - Catalyst 2960-XR models offer all the features of the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X (but stacking with Catalyst 2960-S) - In addition, they have 2 redundant PS and introduce Layer 3 routing (Basic Layer 3 Routing (IP Lite) including OSFP for routed access, PIM, Policy Based Routing and EIGRP Stub. Catalyst Access switches specific positionning So many new Catalyst models were launched in 2013 that the below Access switching positioning could be helpful: New Software releases Catalyst IOS 15.1(1)SY2 (released 3rd of October 2013) Catalyst IOS 15.1.1(SY2) for Catalyst 6500-E is a maintenance release that includes bug fixes. It does not include new software features. Catalyst IOS 15.1(2)SY (released 7th of September 2013)

PI 2.0 provides unified management for the features that are common to both switches and wireless controllers. After your devices are added to Prime Infrastructure, you can use the Initial Device Setup workflow to configure the wired and wireless features on switches and controllers. - Captive Portal Bypassing for Local Web Authentication: Apple devices that need to resolve Wireless Internet Service Provider roaming (WISPr) and have support for captive portal bypass can now get local web authentication. Catalyst 6500 Series PFC3B and DFC3B Bundles (S-67-10GE-C0, S-67-10GE-C2, S-67-GE-TX-2, WS-F6700-DFC3B, WS-F6700-DFC3BXL, WS-F6K-PFC3B, WS-F6K-PFC3BXL) will be end-of-sale on 31st of January 2014 (EOL9356). Catalyst 6500 Series linecard (WS-X6148-FE-SFP) will be end-of-sale on 31st of January 2014 (EOL9356). Catalyst 4500-E linecard (WS-X4148-RJ) will be end-of-sale on 31st of January 2014 (EOL8535). Replacement product is WS-X6848-SFP-2T.
  7. 7. Catalyst 4500-E linecard (WS-X4548-RJ45V+) will be end-of-sale on 28th of April 2014 (EOL9426). Replacement products are WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and WS-X4748-RJ45V+E. Catalyst 4500-E linecard (ME-X4448-GB-BDL and WS-X4448-GB-SFP) will be end-of-sale on 28th of April 2014 (EOL9425). Replacement product is ME-X4640-CSFP-E. Catalyst 4500-E linecard (WS-X4248-RJ45V) will be end-of-sale on 28th of April 2014 (EOL9424). Replacement products are WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and WS-X4748-RJ45V+E). Catalyst 3560V2 and Catalyst 3750V2 will be end-of-sale on 14th of November 2015 (EOL9452). Catalyst 2960 family will be end-of-sale on 31th of October 2014 (EOL9449). Replacement products are Catalyst 2960 Plus family. S/W End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcements Catalyst 6500-E IOS 12.2(33)SXJ will be end-of-sale 31st of March 2014 (EOL9437). Some old Catalyst price modification Some old Catalyst models prices have been increased on 2nd of November 2013. (around 10% for most of them) to accommodate increasing component and manufacturing costs. These - models are: Catalyst 3560V2 Catalyst 3750V2 Catalyst 4500-E Sup6-E and Sup6L-E Some Catalyts 4500-E linecards (WS-X4148-RJ, WS-X4248-RJ45V, WS-X4448-GB-SFP, WS-X4548-RJ45V+) Some Catalyst 6500-E items (VS-S720-10G-3C, VS-S720-10G-3CXL, WS-X6708-10G-3C, WS-X6708-10G3CXL, WS-F6700-DFC3CXL, VS-C6504E-S720-10G, VS-C6506E-S720-10G, VS-C6509E-S720-10G, VSC6509VE-S72010G) Some of these products had already been announced End-Of-Sale.
