Indian Prairie School District (IPSD) is the third largest school district in the state of Illinois. The school district lead a campaign to align their technical resources with a long-term education integration strategy. Looking for a scalable wireless enterprise network as the foundation for a bring your own technology (BYOT) program, IPSD also wanted to support new statewide standards in assessments and testing, as well as a wished to increase district-owned devices in the classroom.
After reviewing successful implementations at school districts of similar size and running a pilot program, the school district decided on Cisco to refresh their wireless network. Cisco switches and wireless solutions were not only able to support a plethora of new devices, but the network also provided access to a cloud-based community learning management system for students, parents and staff, and is continuing to support growth in the district. IPSD has outfitted 30 classrooms with wireless teaching and scaled to 900 access points within one year.
