  2. 2.  The Gray Wolf is spread throughout all the northern hemisphere residing in over 30 countries It was once the world’s most widely distributed animal It is slowly losing territory as it heads towards endangerment Red=rare Green=well populated
  3. 3.  Gray wolves are carnivorous and as such eat only meat Gray wolves will eat nearly any animal However, they usually eat ungulates, hoofed mammals, such as elk
  4. 4.  Average height = 29 in. Average length = 5.5 ft. Average weight = 55-130 lbs. Average lifespan = 8 yrs.
  5. 5.  Pups are born live Usually born in litters of 4- 7 Pups must stay protected by the pack until they mature (about 10 months)
  6. 6.  Wolves travel in packs of 7-10 members They are lead by their Alphas, lead male & lead female The Alphas lead the pack, and establish the packs territory
  7. 7.  Wolves howl more often on moonlit nights Wolves unlike most animals develop relationships, and packs operate like close families They often attack creatures many times their size so as to feed the entire group
