10 key music tech innovationsThanks for a great and comprehensive presentation!
However, I wonder why the transistor radio is not included? Maybe it is regarded as older than 50 years.5 months ago

Disruptive Innovation, Kodak and digital imagingThanks for some really interesting information! At what point did Kodak sell their digital camera division?
Regarding executive incompetence - it seems that if you are way up in the sky, the sun will always shine...7 months ago

Disruptive Innovation, Kodak and digital imagingYou’re right, Sony launched several cameras named Maviza in the 90s. However, the first one came in 1981 and used floppy disks.
To Steve: I agree with you, the popular version tends to disregard all efforts Kodak has made. That’s unfair to the company and the people who have fought this battle. Agfa went bankrupt and so did Polaroid, Kodak would also have been there if it wasn’t for the efforts that were made. Odd as it may seem, it is a success story.

Ilford and the Death of FilmThanks!
Does it? I think it suggests that hardly no digital cameras were sold at all in 1995? To me, the graph seems to suggest that this happened somewhere around 2003. The data comes from an industry association.

Disruptive Innovation and the Leica historyHi,
You are quite right that other companies were into this format as well. I guess the point I wanted to make was that Leica was the company that succeeded with the 35 mm format and came to define it for a long time.
I didn’t know about the engineer at Kodak, that’s a great story. The slideshow explains how Leica in fact was into digital imaging at an early point, but still encountered problems.
Regarding Kodak, well, a lot can be said, take a look at the other slideshows here about Kodak and think about their story, which is indeed an interesting one...

Disruptive Innovation and AgfaPhotoHi Erik,
Yes, I agree with you that it is sad to see Agfa going down. But as you see from my other presentations they are far from being alone.
The Japanese companies have, with some exceptions (Pentax, Contax and Mamiya) come out of this shift stronger than ever. I am currently working on a slideshow about why this happened.

Facit and the Disruptive Electronic CalculatorHi Cathy, it’s fascinating to me how people all around the world have memories related to this company, which is now part of history. Actually don’t know where the photo is taken, I took it at the museum, will go back there soon, and should be able to find out. I don’t know where and how to get one of those dolls, supposedly ebay or the ’swedish’ ebay, www.tradera.nu , are the most likely places. If you go to Åtvidaberg in Sweden, it must also be possible to get one, but that’s a long journey for a small doll. I’m looking for one myself =) Best, Christian11 months ago
