2. What went well?
It was easy to manipulate my Garfield poster into a web banner because I could just cut out
the first half of the storyboard which was helpful, but it’s also good because even though I
have only included two frames from the comic the banner still makes sense. The banner
looks like a normal Garfield comic strip, but when you reach the end it takes a strange turn
and the fact that a well-known cat, that some of the public will have grown up reading, is
holding a can of IRN BRU 32 might be quite shocking for some people because they
wouldn’t expect it, but this fits in with the other adverts that IRN BRU have done which are
sinister and twist things that are meant to be innocent and harmless.
What didn’t go so well?
I think that I could of maybe changed the layout of the way I placed things onto the banner
because it is very similar to the poster that I did. As much as the banner needed to be
similar to the poster, I could of possibly made the can on the right jump off of the banner, to
make it more interesting and possibly make it more obvious which brand the banner is
advertising. I could of made the IRN BRU can bigger and the Garfield title smaller, as at the
moment it is more promoting Garfield than it is IRN BRU and the content of the banner is
more of Garfield as well.
