This document provides an overview of how to get started with Tin Can (xAPI). Tin Can is a standard for tracking learning experiences across systems and applications. It allows systems to communicate about learner activities, performance, and outcomes. The document outlines several key steps to get started with Tin Can, including identifying a problem area or learning program to focus on, designing how existing systems can integrate and share data using Tin Can, developing the integration, and deploying it to begin collecting data and analyzing learning outcomes. Examples of how organizations have used Tin Can to improve training programs and measure the impact of learning are also provided.

• Understand what learning content is the most engaging
• Track workplace experiences and performance outcomes
• Compare and correlate training and job performance
• Understand a learning program’s business impact
• Use data to evaluate learning programs for future improvement

Editor's Notes
For the sake of this presentation, let’s isolate one sample idea and see how we would get started.
How does we get started using Tin Can API to achieve better Learning Analytics?
A learner’s branching within this simulation is complicated. I know this from taking it myself and failing 8 times! I just couldn’t figure out who to pick on my team.
-vendors in learning industry jumping on it.
-but most at SCORM parity level.
-such fundamental change introduces big disruptive effect and spurs innovation for the industry.
-vendors tangential to the eLearning industry are now entering it as a market
