  1. Waste Not A “Not for Profit” Business plan to alleviate national and global hunger

  4. But the excess just isn‟t finding its way to those who need it most The Problem
  5. And people are starting to take serious notice! The Problem There is a huge amount of press around the topic and a TED talk with over 700k views Searches for “food waste” have been rising since 2007 (Source: Google Trends) A lot of social negativity around the topic
  6. Problem / Market summary 57,248 supermarkets in the UK throw 7 million tonnes of food each year to landfill Meanwhile another 1.8 million tonnes is thrown away by smaller shops and restaurants While 13 million people in the UK live below the poverty line And next year over 500,000 people in the UK will become dependent on Food Aid

Our Solution – „Waste Not’ Donators Receivers 1) Joe‟s sandwich shop in Peckham registers as a „Waste Not Donator‟ 3) Joe‟s upload that every tuesday and thursday they have between 20 - 40 sandwiches to throw away. 6) Joe‟s recieve a „Waste Not Donator‟ certification 2) Peckham Road Soup Kitchen (PKRS) registers as a „Waste Not Reciever‟ 4) PRSK receive a notification that Joe‟s sandwich shop have between 20 - 40 sandwiches 5) Arrange to collect the sandwiches from Joe‟s on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings. 7) Distribute sandwiches to the homeless and hungry through the Peckham Road Soup Kitchen
  8. The Idea Business with excess food Charity in need of food Both parties can log into mobile or web app to arrange delivery of food
  9. Our Competitors Love Food, Fare share and Food cycle are the UK‟s major Food Charities Between the three charities they have a total of 31 hubs around the UK dedicated to serving food and educating the public to cut down on food wastage. Some business are working to distribute their waste food. For example delivers 12,000 meals per week to the homeless However, in June 2013 it was announce 18% of the UK‟s population was living in food poverty and food wastage was at high. Why does it not work? • Huge quantities of food is thrown away simply to avoid the potential liability if people are taken ill. • Laziness! We need to travel to them • Apart from minor financial incentives, being conscientious with food waste just isn‟t worth the while of a lot of businesses.
