  • 3. Conventions: Use Of Presenter CONVENTION EXAMPLE OF THIS CONVENTION IN ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY USE? DEVELOP? CHALLENGE? Description of how you will apply it to your documentary Use of presenter Use • The documentary will use a presenter in order to present the documentary information to the audience. • The presenter will address the camera directly, as well as conduct interviews with experts and the public. Use of presenter (David Attenborough pictured here)
  • 4. Conventions: Expert Interviews CONVENTION EXAMPLE OF THIS CONVENTION IN ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY USE? DEVELOP? CHALLENGE? Description of how you will apply it to your documentary Expert interviews (with titles) ‘Don’t Blame Facebook’ Use • Expert interviews are important to the topic of the documentary, as the documentary will have to include expert opinions and advice on employment and education. • Experts (employers, teachers, etc.) will be interviewed in order for the audience to gain expert knowledge on the topics covered. Titles used: ‘US Immigration Lawyer’
  • 5. CONVENTION EXAMPLE OF THIS CONVENTION IN ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY USE? DEVELOP? CHALLENGE? Description of how you will apply it to your documentary Establishing shots Use • Establishing shots are good for letting the audience know where the filming of the documentary is taking place. For example, an establishing shot of a building in which the presenter shall be interviewing someone. • The outside of a working environment (bank, shop, etc.) will be shown before interviews with people who operate in these establishments are shown. Conventions: Establishing Shots Establishing shot shows the viewer where the documentary is currently set, before giving more information.
  • 6. Conventions: Public Interviews CONVENTION EXAMPLE OF THIS CONVENTION IN ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY USE? DEVELOP? CHALLENGE? Description of how you will apply it to your documentary Public interviews Use • Public interviews are also essential in order for the audience to gain outside knowledge of the topic from everyday people. • The presenter will interview strangers in public settings, asking them to discuss their opinions on the topics of education and employment.
  • 7. Conventions: Statistic/Graph/Diagram CONVENTION EXAMPLE OF THIS CONVENTION IN ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY USE? DEVELOP? CHALLENGE? Description of how you will apply it to your documentary Use of statistic, graph or diagram Use • Statistics, graphs and diagram are helpful in presenting visual information to the audience. • These will be used to show the viewers facts and figures. Eg. Unemployment rates, rates of degree holders vs. non- degree holders.
