Charles Baileys Presentation

 1. 1. Transition To AutoCAD By: Charles Bailey
 2. 2. AutoCAD, the Program

AutoCAD the Program is an expensive computer software that can cost from $1500.00 to $3000.00 dollars.

AutoCAD allows you to take a

drawing and transfer it to the

computer format.

There are many different ways to

transfer a picture or object to

AutoCAD.

 3. 3.

AutoCAD allows you to compartmentalize different systems in layers so that a change to an individual system can be incorporated with minor impacts to the overall project.

By using layers the designer is able to see interactions between different components.

AutoCAD Layers

When using layers, each layer has to be created, given a name, and be saved to the program to be found if changes are needed to be made.

 4. 4.

Layers allow you to view multiple components of a design, such as electrical, plumbing and ventilation layouts

By viewing these components, the designer is able to identify interferences between the different layouts and adjust designs to correct any discrepancies

By applying layers, a designer is also able to evaluate multiple design options to determine the most efficient layout

Layers Continued
 5. 5. Isometric Drawings

Isometric drawings are drawn on a specific type of drawing paper called Isometric Sketching Paper.

Isometric paper is similar to regular graphing paper except that it has triangles running down and across the paper.

The drawings are drawn along the angle of the triangles on the paper giving you a three dimensional drawing.

 6. 6. Oblique Drawings

Oblique drawings are drawn on paper out of a quadrille sketch pad which is regular square graph paper.

This setting is one of the more commonly used in the AutoCAD program.

The oblique drawing is drawn by looking at a three dimensional object, Identifying the front of the object, and then draw the rest of the image at a forty five degree angle.

 7. 7. Orthographic Drawings

Like Oblique Drawings, Orthographic Drawings are also drawn on a Quadrille Sketch Pad.

An Orthographic Drawing has three separate views, some do have four

views.

There is a top view,

below that is the left or

side view, and to the right

of that is a front view.

You can also add a bottom

view above the front view.

 8. 8. House Floor Plans

AutoCAD allows you to focus down to the smallest details of a home

Each floor plan consists of rooms with interior and exterior walls, doors, and windows

There are other objects you can and probably need to add; such as the appliances and fixtures for the kitchen and bathrooms in there selected area.

 9. 9. Landscaping

When clients spend a lot of money on a project they often overlook the landscaping.

AutoCAD allows you to apply multiple layers of landscape features in three dimensional format to determine which design best compliments your home or facility.

One of the big areas looked at when buying a house is the landscaping.

 10. 10.

By implementing an AutoCAD Design program into your business model, you can provide a time saving and revenue generating approach to facility design activities by increasing deliverable product accuracy. Reducing the time to complete and deliver work product reworks and providing greater design flexibility to customers.

AutoCAD
